Looked to me like their bikes got locked together, thats why Moss couldn't turn and thats why they both went over the burm locked together.

I think everyone is being a little too hard on Moss. He was going for the last spot in the Main on the last lap of the LCQ. He didn't quite execute it correctly, but it was a great ride up to that point. Wish he had been a lot cleaner and that both guys had stayed up but I don't blame the guy for getting kinda desperate.

That was driving straight over the berm...rubbing is what they were doing before that, and that was indeed, racing.

When you do something like that, it's not rubbing, it's a T-bone. Aggressive racing is easy to see....Sipes and Moss did it for the entire LCQ. That was hard, aggressive racing. Just driving straight over a berm to take somebody out is bullshit, no matter who does it.

"Great ride up to that point" Not sure what TV showed, but he was repeatedly parking Sipes. It wasn't one mistake on the last lap. Being the faster rider took a back seat to parking & taking out Sipes. I saw one aggresive move by Sipes, parking Moss but that was after 3 or 4 times of Moss's BS.

I don't know, I liked it! It was legitimate take out move gone horribly wrong. Happens all the time in SX.
The best part was RC saying a few corners before: "This isn't going to end well!" lol, right on RC, you called that one straight up! Tongue

And it was also great racing. Eat your happy meals and shut up.

I was at the race, everyone in the stadium was watching them battle. And anyone who has ever raced before could see that it was not going to end well for one of them (turns out it ended badly for both of them).

Just watched it again on TV, hindsight says dumb move- but don't we all wish we could go though life and have the benefit of hindsight.

They were both battling hard, two guys that are both better than being in an LCQ, and they both got pissed that the other was screwing with them while they were trying to get through the LCQ. Shit happens, they both fell in shit.

bullpen and ocscottie and AZ35 seem to be the only few on here that have sense enough to realise what happens in racing.
This same thing has happened on numerous occasions over time and will happen again in future.
THAT IS RACING.

You can X3 on that one. I think Moss was riding great and just let the aggression kind of take over a little. yeah....it screwed both him and sipes up to get on the main gate.....but shit happens in racing. Feel bad for both of them really......but they'll be fine.

Get over it!!!! LAST LAP LCQ. Yeh it was desperate and not the smartest move but he left nothing out there. Sipes tried his best to cover the track Moss tried his best to pass. That's racing!!!! I dont hear anybody crying about Josh Grant taking down Jimmy Albertson for the 1st gate pick in the LCQ.

I like Mossy, but if I was Sipes I think I would have beat the shit out of him. Not a professional move at all.

Heres the vid. It looks like he gets a little too close and is unable to turn. I don't think he meant to take him so wide

Big sipes fan, but that's just how it is last lap of the lcq. But something definitely looks wrong with Sipes, he should be up front, not struggling to get out of the lcq

Nice one Derpin!

Imagine Sipes' go-pro footage is a good watch - that off track excursion ruined my fantasy league result though. Sad

Sipes was the fastest qualifier at A1 and turned a poor start (last gate pick) into a 5th place finish during the main. Based on that, I don't think something is wrong with him.

Doesn't look like moss even reached for some front brake before he shanked sipes with his bars. IMO emotion got the best of him, could've stuffed him and made the main but instead he went for the suicide take out move.

Sipes shouldn't have been in the LCQ to begin with.

it was a pretty hard out move to make, but if you are going to do it, the last lap of the lcq for the last transfer postion is the time to do it, he had tried a couple of times before to do it that lap so i thought Sipes may have tried to cover the inside a bit better, or at least check up,

Yep. If you are going to see that kind of banging anywhere the lcq is going to be it.

That's racing.....sometimes the goggles turn a little red and you don't see quite as clearly as you should.....lol.
They both wanted it and were willing to fight for it.....no problem with that.

I get what Moss was trying to do, unfortunately he ran out of talent and made himself look kind of, well, not so good. There will always be next week... He'd have a bullseye on him if I were Sipes.

After seeing the video, it looked like he couldn't turn in because he got to close. The couple of passes before that were brilliant though, heart rate would have been higher than the roof camera!

After watching that it does look like Moss got a little tangled with him and couldn't turn. I'm sure Moss didn't want to wreck either.

it was bad and embarrassing,

I heard Nate Ramsey went and apologized to the Sipes camp and Moss will get talked to by the AMA this week.

I met 5 guy's that are here from Australia and they say this is typical of Moss.

I'd hope Moss himself also apologized to Sipes, I don't think it was intentional but sure was bad.

Also can you provide any proof that this is typical other than 'I heard from this guy who lives in the same continent...' I personally can't think of any time I've seen Moss do that.

I was surprised Sipes didn't protect the inside better ...

Rubbish. I've never seen him to be a dirty rider, and there really wasn't much in that 'pass'. They were banging bars and got a bit hooked up. Nothing compared to some of the stuff we've seen from some of the big name riders....

You're right Weapon, from my perspective it seems Moss went for a pass which would see him transfer to the main, and as he made that pass his bike got tangled with Sipes'. If you can look closely i think Moss' right leg gets trapped between their bikes and Moss loses control of his rear brake. This causing momentum to carry them over the berm and thats racing, simple as that. I know i would have done the exact same thing in Moss' situation.
