I think JS makes a high number but he spends a high number as well. RC was a notorious spendthrift.

Have to respect somebody who can make this type of money in Motocross, because lets be honest, it is a small sport in a big World. Doing what they love and being rich is the way everyone who puts the effort in should be rewarded.

My guess would be some Microsoft or Google original who decided not to make a career or motocross and just made a hobby of it instead.........

I would say RC, he was winning at the best economic time and he was constantly winning all the time, maximising his income.

Depends what you mean by "richest"...

If you mean who's made the most from direct income from MX/SX then I'd agree that RC or Stewart would be the obvious choices.

If you mean who is actually the wealthiest, I'd have to say that Chad might take that crown.

That BRW list said he made $8.5M this year; if you assume he made no net income from MX/SX with starting his team, then all hat money has come from investments. Let's be aggressive and say that he got 20% return on his assets, that puts his assets at around $40-45M; which wouldn't include his house and other personal assets.

If you assume 10% return his asset base might be more like $80-90M...

Wouldn't RC and Stewart also have investments?

Rc was collecting quite a few win/championship bonuses for 10 years straight at the height of the payout level. Im sure those perfect seasons padded him nicely. Pastrana said in an interview a few years ago ricky's bank account would crush his.

I reckon TP would make more in some years than RC has made in his entire career...

RC: (Retired athlete)
-Former dirt cycle champ
-10 years of bonus payments
-Most likely reached the earning peak of his career
-Still has deals with Monster, Oakley, Fox.
-Still gets some exposure through racing ovals

TP: (Modern day gladiator / Renaissance Man)
-The undisputed most marketable action sports athlete on earth (Especially now hes married to Lyn Z Adams Hawkins.. Power-couple?)
-Former MX / SX Champ
-A few good years of factory salaries / bonuses
-Multi time x-games medal winner
-Long FMX career where he basically won everything ($$)
-Has his own TV show
-Is basically the star of the summer x games
-Has his own traveling show (Nitro Circus Live)
-Races Ovals (No doubt earning a shit-tonne more than RC is for this)
-Owns part of a Nascar team (Pastrana / Waltrip racing)
-Rally Career
-Career is still growing, wont reach his full potential for years to come
-Still has deals with: Redbull, Smith, Ethika, EVS, etc etc etc

To say TP has a 10x bigger profile than RC would be an understatement

Out of TP's own mouth, "Ricky could crush me with his wallet."

RC for sure...

15 titles...

Assume for those 5 SX titles he got a mil from the manufacturers...

Then probably close for each of the MX big bike titles...

And maybe 200k to 500k for the tiddler titles...

And then sponsors..

And interest...

And 150 race wins of AT LEAST 5 dollars purse payout from the AMA...

haha...

How close is Travis? Unless we are talking purely racing income...

I would say Mike Larocco is up there too.

You can make a lot of money and blow it. RC lived conservatively just like the Rocket.
