Yamaha of Troy Sorry for Lawrence’s Unacceptable Behavior
GuyB

Valencia, California – Yamaha of Troy (“YOT”) regrets the unfortunate off the track action of their recently crowned 2008 Supercross “Lites/West” Champion, Jason Lawrence, at Freestone National MX in Wortham, Texas this past weekend.

YOT does not condone the type of behavior that Lawrence displayed and as a result has taken steps of their own to rectify the situation immediately, and have implemented policies and procedures so as to eliminate these types of unfortunate situations from occurring in the future.

Lawrence deeply regrets his off the track actions this past weekend and wants his fans and fellow racers to know that he’s extremely sorry to all, and sees this as a wake-up call. He realizes since winning the 2008 Supercross “Lites” Champion just a few short weeks ago he is not just another racer on the track anymore, but rather a Champion. He now has everyone watching his every move, and is very aware that he is being looked at as a role to young racers coming up aspiring to be a Champion, just like himself.

Funny how so few people see anything wrong with an employee getting blitzed while representing his company and then going and trashing / rolling / totalling out company car (albeit a rental). And then the boss has to come out and apologize to everyone while the knucklehead employee is probably telling them to f' off. That's what I find disgustingly funny. LOL

I already forgive him , He didn't do anything to me anyways.

I just know in my heart the kid is headed for a disaster if he doesn't tone it down.
2 dui's ? multiple fights, public drunkenness and destruction of property ,

I want to see him racing and being the villain on the track not the pits .

A lot of good people have screwed up when they were young and moved on(me included). Now that everyone is sorry, let's move along with the MX season.

It's a sorry state of affairs.

Is everyone sorry enough?

Let's get back to racing this weekend.

I think this whole thing is now gone WAY over board. Enough of the apologys now. Anyone that thinks either of these kids are supposed to be "super humans" just isn't being realistic. They have learned their lesson and now its time for everyone to move on. It is sad to think that YOT and Yamaha actually have to apologize for their riders as if WE think their riders are to run for president or something, geez it really isnt that big of a deal once they have learned their lesson and i am sure they have.

No doubt Mike did some stupid things. He'd probably admit it too. BUT, he's put his head where it needs to be, undoubtably has trained his ass off and his results are speaking for themselves. I for one am impressed. He and his brother seem like genuinely good people. I know JLaw won a regional SX title, but his ride in Texas was lackluster at best. I expected him to be a standout in the front of the pack, not buried in it. You could see his double gainer through the whoops coming long before it happened. Him coming off as cocky doesn't bother me in the least, but he talks and acts like a six year old that OD'd on valium. You'd think RV owning him so bad on the track would be at least a little motivation to put forth a dedicated effort. And someone mentioned his grandfather raised him, that shows so much disrespect from the little shit that he deserves more than a small knot slapped on his head. I know kids being raised by grandparents for one reason or another and it never seems like a real easy or convenient commitment from the grandparents when they should be settling into retirement. A little respect goes a long way. Hopefully this weekend shows a different approach.

Put the man where he belongs. Unemployed. Uneducated. Undedicated. Forced to work at Mcdonalds or sell drugs by his own choices. The guy is a discrace to the sport.

And to think I defended him to my riding buddies and am getting laughed at because of it now.

Glen Helen moto 1 was a fluke. He will NEVER win another outdoor moto.

Yes in two years we will all forget about this and him because he will be in prison, homeless, or screwing somebody else out of money.

I have never boo'd a rider but we have 27 people going to 2 nats this summer who will be holding up banners for him to read telling him how much of a piece of shit he is to the sport. Remember when the Belguim fans used to throw rocks at Lackey when he raced and won? Nuff said.

His street smart gangster shit is pathetic. Get the hell out of motocross.

YOT? Boycot this company until they show they mean it . Words are cheap. Leave the guy without a ride this weekend and prove you mean it or pay the price.

Wow, I guess you never made a mistake in your life....Yes, JLaw's made a few but that doesn't make him any of what you describe. They didn't throw rocks at Brad because he got crunked & rolled a car, I'll tell you that....LOL. Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one.......Nuff said!!!

Wow, don't bust a blood vessel. Isn't that a little harsh?

I made lots of mistakes but I have never had a DUI (more less 2) and I am 42 he is 21.
I have never been arrested. (He has). I have never been in a physical altercation. (He has). I have never embaressed my employer with my actions. (He has). I have never been the discrace of the industry that employees me. (He has).

He is punk ass white trash.

Don't worry nobody will be throwing rocks at that scumbag because he won't be anywhere close to RV, Stroupe, Metcalfe or Dungey.

But we might get pit passes and have 27 people in a row ask him if he has some good drugs or booze and throw his autographs back at him.

...so if he gets his shit together and starts doing well, will you be back on the bandwagon?

I don't like or dislike the kid, I'm almost sure he's not pure evil, just a little dense and impulsive.

No I subscribe to the three strikes your out rule. He is on strike 5 or 6 just in the past two years.

I would like to see him lose his ride and be banned from the AMA for life. He could always go to Europe and race. Im sure the FIM would love to have him. lol

Use him as an example for the rookies racing LL this summer. Kick the guy to the curb so NO ONE follows in his footsteps.

did lawrence ever issue a genuine public apology? If he did then that's good enough for me... that combined with YOT putting him on a shorter leash. Hopefully he'll learn from his mistakes and be a more responsible racer for YOT and all of his fans. Best of luck.

I think JLaw has said F' you and your public apology. Otherwise we'd have heard something by now. All part of his image he's trying to uphold. He's a bad boy ,ya know!
