Depends, we have probably been averaging 107 this past month. but when the MONSOONs or the preverbial HABOOBS roll through, the humidity jumps up. We have a constant heat wave. Its like walking in a blow dryer. or in my case, riding in a blow dryer. I go out to a local track and start riding at 6 am and done by 10 because its already over 100 degrees.

Ill be out on sunday at a local track here, there doing a fundraiser rider day for Destry Abbott. Pop Up shade - CHECK, Gallons of ice cold water - CHECK, turn on your car and sit in the A/C at times - CHECK. If i complete those check lists i will survive the heat!

Just so everyone can realize that you don't have to be in a motocross race to die of heatstroke, and that people need to be cognizant of those around them when working in the heat, here's a sad story from Kentucky:

http://www.wdrb.com/story/15130505/developing-18-year-old-dies-of-heat-…

LOUISVILLE, KY – (WDRCool -- This heat wave claims its first victim in Kentuckiana - an 18-year-old from Sellersburg. Cody Johns just graduated from Silver Creek High school. This summer, he was working with his stepdad's lawn care service. Thursday, the crew was doing landscape work in the Brownsboro Glen neighborhood in Louisville. The temperature reached 96 degrees but the heat index hit 115 - turning the weather dangerous and deadly for Johns.

As the heat index approached 115 by 2 o'clock, Johns complained he was hot and sat down to rest under a shady tree. 2 hours later, Johns fellow co-workers notice he was having trouble speaking so they put him in an air conditioned truck to cool off and rushed him to Westport Village and the Norton Immediate Care Center. When Johns starts throwing up, the workers call 911. Lyndon Firefighters were first on the scene.

"They started to attempt to aggressively cool his body temperature by placing ice packs around his neck and under his arms," says Lyndon Fire Captain Rich Bliven says Johns had no vital signs. His co-workers were upset because they tried to get the teenager help at the Norton Immediate Care Center right at Westport Village

"Some of the lawn care employees that he was with had expressed that they had tired to get medical service at the Immediate Care Center and were told they could not get service or were denied service," says Bliven.

"We did not deny treatment to the individual in fact we never saw him in the immediate care center," says Norton's Chief Medical Officer Steven Hester. He says a co-worker came instead asking for help and was told by an employee to get Johns to a hospital. But Johns stepfather told the coroner a Norton employee did come out with a wheelchair took one look at Johns and said, "Get him to the hospital, we don't have the fluids."

Johns later died at the hospital. The coroner says it was a heat stroke and Johns core body temperature was at least 110 degrees causing his organs shutdown. Co-workers say Johns was staying hydrated, but doctors stress the importance of taking breaks too...even when working outside trying to find an air conditioned building for rest for second.

Funeral arraignments are still pending for Johns.

I just spent some time back in the Midwest and it was NASTY. Felt like a swamp. I will take the 115 degree heat of Arizona any day over 98-100 with 85% humidity. Yesterday it was up to 40% humidity here in Arizona with a temp around 110, but that was nothing compared to the Midwest, Florida and Texas. You guys got it rough.

It's a nice low 70s degree summer day here today and the track got groomed, it rained off and on all week long and it's supposed to be in the high 70s tomorrow. I'm going riding, suckers!

Any your point is? Sounds about like any typical summer day here in South Georgia. Hell, it's worse down in Florida or around Houston than it is here. Folks up north laugh at Southerners when we go ape shit over a dusting of snow. Turnabout is fairplay chris.Whistling

Yes, it get's humid in AZ. BTW - the actual humidity in Hartford is 33% right now, no where near 100%. Dew point is 60 degrees which is fairly normal for AZ during the summer monsoons. So the humidity you feel now is how humid is gets here when it is +110.

There is not one place in the US that ever hits 85% humidity and +90 degrees. The only place on earth that does that is the Persian Gulf, worst place on earth. Anyone wanting to compare hot, humid, and nasty conditions needs to thank our military folks for putting up with what they put up with. not only do they have bullets flying around them, It's the only place in the world where it "legitimately" will be 90 degrees and 90% humidity, everywhere else that claims that is just an over-exaggeration.

Really I was driving home from work and the stupid "Africa hot" jumped in my head because Emig has mentioned it like 3x during races. "Tyla Rattray would say it's Africa hot." Was more a joke, then everyone chimed in their weather reports so it worked out good. Trust me brotha, I work construction and if I have a choice between 15deg and the windchill making it feel like 5 and 100deg. I tak the 100 all day long son! Been in NE my whole life and can take whatever mother nature dishes out. Yeah I remember a buddy going to Atlanta and it snowed. People went bonkers and there were accidents everywhere because noone knew how to drive in the snow haha!

I got laid off working for my pops, and needed some cash so my step dad stepped up and gave me a job....working on the roof of an air traffic tower at an airport pouring concrete and bending rebar.

That work is bad enough, but I live in palm desert....on the ground its around 115, but up on the roof we tapped out the thermometer at 125....and due to the fact it's an airport we can't put up a single umbrella....

I don't have much sympathy for the people bitching over 100 degrees

OK, so it will only be 70% humidity tomorrow in St. Louis MO. Expected high is 98 degrees. I live here in Arizona just like you and two weeks ago I was in St. Louis. The heat was unbearable and MUCH MUCH worse than anything in AZ during the time of year we get a few small thunderstorms.
