Another thread mentioned that Target was considering sponsoring a team in MX/SX. Maybe Target. A big sponsor like that would be cool. Team Target TwoTwo has a different ring to it. Team TwoTwo Vodafone via Verizon Wireless sounds dumb.

Looks like you beat me to it. It would make sense with the honored part.

I know you can’t say now, but there is going to be an announcement about some collaboration on building the track with some top riders.

I thought Chad Reed's contract with Kawi was a 1 year contract with an OPTION on the second year to be exercised by the rider ? I believe Being released or opting out of a contract is different than BREAKING a contract, but I am just a dumb upstate NY hill billy what do I know. I am sure there are all kinds of little contracts broken, but with big name teams not so sure...they have good lawyers and stuff

I doubt he's going to be knighted, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was getting some kind of award/recognition from the Aussie government. If it's team related, I'm thinking someone like the Australian Tourism Board is coming on as a sponsor, or at least a group that deals with OZ on a global scale. Proud and honored aren't words I would throw out if it was just another industry sponsor signing on.

Australia doesn't do knighthoods anymore. But Queen's Birthday honours could be it, given those words he used in his tweet.

As mentioned by others above, perhaps the Vodaphone/Verizon connection as a major outside sponsor?

To me, 'honored' = an award of some kind.

Might have no direct relevance to the thread topic, but there is no other rider in this sport who is above him in the 'team builder' category. What he has done in the past 6 months is absolutely amazing and unprecedented. Throw in the all championships he has won and the fact he is currently leading one - CR will go down in history as one of the world wide all time all round top 3 of dirt bike racing dudes.
