After all the SX's I saw and all the hoopla, all I could think of when I walked away Saturday night and got in fights with idiots in the parking lot (whole nother story) is Dungey lost this SX title, not RV won, or James or Reed lost, but Dungey's chain cost him a SX title, and it's true, that was his only mishap, a bloody chain.

what about the 3 or 4 points he threw away?? The late wreck (same race as shown, arlington?) and then seattle wreck on lap 18 or 19...the mistake he made by trying to lap blose on the outside at Atlanta...thats a 10 point swing on villopoto ( at Atlanta reed 25 - RV - 20, actual results RV -25 Reed 20 = 10 pts)...I like Reed and would have loved to see him win it since Dunge couldnt seize the moment. But it was more than 1 crash that hurt him..they all made a lot of mistakes, the man that made the least and took advantage of others mistakes won.

No matter how much skill you have, luck has to be in your favor as well.

I think if Dungey would have won, it would have been the best "STFU" to all the people putting the "*" on his titles last year.

that has a lot to do with chad's situation.

but RD's chain

JS' multiple wrecks

Trey's misfortune

RV's no qualify at JAX

i was pulling for chad and i was really stoked that he won vegas.

speaking of vegas, the boo birds were out in full force for chad during opening ceremonies. sad deal to see him kiss his son on the forhead and his wife with a chorus of boo's from all the turds in the stadium.

what was even sweeter is how loud the whole stadium cheered when he passed villopoto and was first over the finish line after 20 laps. supercross fans are funny

Once again, what about the races he let Reed by late in the race with stupid mistakes...not being able to get around canard at houston (I believe).. He had canard then pussy footed it around the next turn and let Canard by, never got Canard back...The run in with Friese at Seattle that sent him to the back..The wreck at Arlington I believe to let RV by. He didnt always seize the moment when he could have.

Another thing I noticed at one round was Dungey got a really good jump out of the gate, BUT was probably the first one on the brakes into the first turn...goes back to being more aggressive. Forget which round I noticed that at, might post pictures if I take the time to go find the video.

Stew also took out RV a couple races before that, so I'd say that evens out. I agree with Sondy, the only guy who had something completely out control was Dungey, with the chain derailing. But regardless, RD could have earned it by winning more races, the same way RV earned it even with his own mistakes

I just re-watched each and every race from this year, studied all the stats and figured out why Reed isn't the 2011 champ.

Turns out, RV2 ended up with more points. Hmmmm....

Reedy just needed to ride better early in the season, and at Jax and Toronto(those wins were in his reach, 6 points right there).

What were the boo's for? Unless it was just from a bunch of idiots in attendance. He has been pretty amazing this season. Most were RV fans I'm guessing.

i've been going to that race every year since 2000, every year it is funny to see who the stadium boos.

we counted 6 fights in the stands before the night show was 50% through.

the year it was reed and windham, 08 i think, same thing, the stadium booed reed during opening ceremonies. but when he passed windham for the win and won the championship, the whole place was cheering for him.

I'm sure most sports have their share of idiots, but since I don't follow them I'd have to say this sport has the most.

If your gonna play the "shoulda/coulda/woulda" game, then it all could have played out like this.
1. IF Dungy would have been faster and more agressive then he would have picked up some of the needed points and won.
2. IF Stewart would have been willing to back it down a bit and taken some better finishes/not crashed, he would have won.
3. IF Canard had not crashed in practice and broken his leg, he could have won.
4. IF Reed had not taken so long to get up to pace/tried to take JS7 out/blah blah/ he would have won.
5. IF RV would have qualified for Jacksonville he would have wrapped it all up earlier.

Blah blah blah!!
This is why the light em up every weekend for 20 laps...

Ryan Villopoto is the 2011 Champ, it is done, and he deserves the title!!! Enough with the rest of the BS!

supercross and motocross fans are very passionate about their favorites. one little thing that is said on a podium will fire the sparks of the haters and have the opposite effect for the fans. crazy how it really is

That didn't cost Reed the title, and if that hadn't happened everyone would have ridden different the last races so nobody knows what would have happened. Chad lost the title in Salt Lake, he knew it right then. The only way those 4 or 5 points would have mattered was if he had lost by less to Stewart. Reed stock went up more than any other rider this year, he done good. But taking anything away from RV is not right. He deserved to be champ.

That whole booing thing is just f-cking classless/clueless!

And Chad didn't win because RV was better... check the points.

I've noticed that trend as well, if you go back over the years that seems to be the way it always goes.

If you're going to focus on individual incidents, Reed taking Stewart out in Atlanta gave RV 5 points and cost Reed 2 for s seven point swing

I think it was because of this in Dodger stadium when Reed crashed. If he would have placed higher than his 7th place finish, he may have won the title. Bubba did not cause this crash, Reeds title was totally in his control with this one indecent.

Though Chad is for sure not my favorite rider, I would never boo him or any of the racers, booing show us how hillbilly our sport is or at least the people who watch it.. RV got what he deserved, he was the smartest rider. Bubba may be the fastest, but you have to stay on two wheels his crashes cost him the championship (some not of his own doing). RD suffered from a chain break, he was the most consistent rider but not enough wins. Chad was fast but his crashes (some by his own doing) cost him the championship. In supercross final standing, 2nd in points is first loser. RV is the winner, and there can be only one.

Over 17 rounds, a 4 point difference is less than a struck match between the two of them. Less than the difference between first and third.

He didn't lose the 2011 SX title because Stewy cleaned him out. He lost it because he didn't score more points than Villopoto. It's not a hard concept to grasp, especially since RV1 didn't even qualify for all the rounds!

Is that where MB or was it BM that knockout the tuff block right in front of Reed and down he went?
