Tusk tires

I've never tried them but a friend of mine says they work surprisingly well.

I’m running emex35 rear, and have zero complaints. For what it’s worth I ride maybe 18 hours a year, offroad, and I really frickin stink.

keefer reviewed them a couple years ago.. I think he said for a budget tire it was ok.  definitely wont have the performance of Dunlop/Pirelli etc.

Good enough for a cheap tire, but wear out quickly.

I've heard surprisingly good things about them for dual sport. Give them a try, report back. 

I've actually had same brand model make tires that I swear work differently out of nowhere. Some like 'these', some 'those'. I change mind on occasion too. The scary ones you try a couple times and give away, or even trash, and never again! Lucky to get out alive!

I use them off road (desert, trails) and also put them on the kids bikes.  they do ok.  The price is right!  45's last quite a bit longer than the 35.  I have not tried them on a mx track though.

For off-road, hare scrambles, and light mx I run the 35 front and recon rear. They stick great on flat slick corners, deep sand, loose chunk rock, clay, loam. In fact I'm on my 5th set and have zero desire to try anything else because these work great and are "cheap". Ridden with them in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and West Virginia. So far no terrain that they didn't work well on. I'm a very aggressive in corners and haven't had any issues with side knob grip or chucking. I'm not a big jumper anymore, and I don't like 5th gear straightaways, so I have to make up time in the corners.

I’ve ran two sets on my 125 and one set on my 200. MX and woods. They are killer for the money, I was using Dunlops prior and can’t tell a difference. Probably 98% of users on this website wouldn’t be able to tell a difference. 

It's a little late asking for opinions after you bought them. How bout mounting them up and giving us your review. 

Couldn't stand the Recon rear. In anything other than slower rocky singletrack the recon wiggled and felt like it never would bite and stay straight. 

I do have friends that use the Recon rear and like it but it's just not a tire for me. I very much prefer a more traditional tire.

Tubliss setup so no dead bib issues. 

I mounted a set for a buddy who tried them...they were a bear to mount! 

Ive went through quite a few sets of the 35s racing off-road, they are really good and last just as long as Mx33s I've ran before. Very similar to the MX33 and rubber feels about the same hardness as well they round a little fairly quick then stay about like that.

I do get some chunking of the edge knobs on the rear sometimes, It seemed worst on sandy stuff with roots mixed in so maybe spinning then hitting roots is what was making it chunk. 

If I was riding moto on a prepped track you can get away with about any tire up to a certain skill level. About anything will work on a nice tilled and watered track. 

I run them on my dualsport and they do pretty good. Only been on the track a couple times with them and it wasn’t to bad there either. 

They have been some of the easiest tires to mount in my experience. Only the EMEX 35s though, no experience mounting the other tires. 

I ran a rear and thought it worked well.

Work great…I’ve been running the recon rear for several years and haven’t had a single complaint.  I’ll probably never buy a premium brand tire again.  

I bought two of the 35's for the rear. Not the best imo. I won't buy again. Poor grip on turns... and leaned over imo. 

I would like to try their Crossbite though. 

I tried a front tire and was so disappointed I called and worked out a refund. It made my front end so vague and untrustworthy that I did a warm up moto, messed with the forks and went back out, packed up and went home. 

Interesting, I don't notice any wobble but I do run 10-12 psi with a tube.

Did you forget to let air back out after mounting the tire? The only times I've had vague front issues is when my tire went flat from a locust tree thorn, or when I forgot to bleed the bead setting pressure off and the tire is at 50psi.

Have you ran the Dunlop that it's a knock off of?

Someone I know that now runs them alot the last 2 years has noticed that once in awhile he's gotten a bad front or rear. Don't know why or how but I do know he had at separate times 1 front and 1 rear that he said was like riding on ice messed around with them decided to throw another new front on another wheel and tested them back to back. One was good one was garbage. RmATV replaced the tire. It's also how he knew right away that he had a bad rear. Again RMATV took care of him. So I think the issue is maybe QC needs to be tightened up. I might give them a go for a spare set of wheels for a super hard dry dust track we ride.  That way im not tearing up some good hoosiers.

I m a fan of RM btw. And Tusk in general has been a solid brand. I like what they are doing. The T35 just didn't work for me. 

Yes I tried 12, 13, 14 PSI. I was really disappointed because I wanted it to be awesome but it was willing to put me down as soon as I started turning on it hard. 

I’ve went through 2 sets of tusk tires. I’ve since went back to Dunlop. The tires were a little bit too slippery in the corners. Especially on harder pack dirt. Soft loamy dirt I didn’t notice much of a difference. But I would say they aren’t bad for how cheap they are. 

Well if you are looking to match the performance of a Dunlop they for sure do that because Dunlops suck.  We have a front on our 125 and it's been just fine.  Plan to try a rear when it's needed.  Good tire for the money.  I can't believe anyone buys Dunlops when there are either cheaper with just as good of performance or better performance for the same price like a Michelin.

I’m currently running the T45 rear on my 450. I mainly ride tracks here in SoCal, which get very hard packed and dusty in the summer. The tire handles the hard packed well, but any bit of mud from excessive watering or even a sandy spot and the tire doesn’t perform that well. It tends to dig instead of driving and wants to step out. 
 

For what it’s worth, it is not terrible but I’m for sure going back to a Dunlop or pirelli after this tire.

I'm not alone in this. The others in our group felt the same. Most running tubes. Even tubliss I run 12PSI. 

I haven't tried it on local soil because I like how a normal tire works, but in Taylor Park the Recon rear will not be my tire choice.
