If anyone is following this series closely, there are 2 things you will 100% see every race weekend. A Coenen will get a holeshot and a Coenen will crash. Most of the time its the same one
Has S. Coenen crashed at least once in every moto so far?
Adamo is my least favorite. Seems like an asshole.
Usually it's the same Coenen that gets the holeshot and crashes: Sacha
I'm sure he'll figure it out eventually. He has the speed but he's build a lot smaller than Lucas. Next year could be a different story already.
Yes, 'Small' and 'Large' certainly can be entertaining. And, their volatility - in terms of throwing it away - makes me concerned for them with regards to SX. Perhaps they might get that volatility out of their systems this year?
'Large' - Lucas - well, he's really improved his 'staying on' abilities in the last few events, that's for sure. There's a lot of races left, and we could see quite a battle between teammates for the title.
Adamo being a arsehole? Seems OK to me in his interviews, and, while quite determined and a bit cut throat out on the track, I don't see any sort of 'Friese' in him.
And, never forget - most of the Euros, are constantly going through a variety of languages, only one being their native tongue, through a whole bunch of interviews and generally in rapid succession. Hell, we native English speakers ( I don't include those Dastardly Kiwis in that category - those blighters are damned near unintelligible - horrible they iz )
, well, we almost inevitably know only the one language, and some manage to come across not that well in it.
Im actually really excited for the brothers and hopefully De Wolfe to come over and see what they have. At the same time ive grown to really enjoy the MXGP series and If all 3 come over that would be a major blow for that series moving forward.
As far as Adamo, i have noticed a few little things that annoy me. He seems to mess with guy for no reason. Like he will cut someone off after the race is over trying to ride through that little fenced off area to get off the track and look back and wave his hand like it was their fault. Entitled type behavior. He's done a few things on the track too like cross jumping or cutting over on someone then throwing his hand like it wasnt his fault. I dont hate the guy by any means hes just not someone root for. L. Coenen, De wolfe, Langenalphabet, and Everts are just guys i enjoy watch battling it out.
" Langenalphabet "
Good one, that!
Yes, the 'Pull' of SX 'glamour', plus that F**kwit Luongo's 23 and you're Out rule, and Zero Prize money , has been, and will ever continue to be, a way the MXGP series loses riders to the USA series. It's been that way for years, and that p**k, just doesn't 'get' it.

100% agree with you about the under 23 age rule and the zero prize money system.
Thats for sure the two weak links of the Luongo vision of the sport.
InFront guys are totally blind not to see the damages caused over the years on MXGP World Championship ...
🙄
Sacha Coenen gets starts cos he is small, when he grows to be the size of Lucas, that will stop, but hopefully so will crashing because he is so small .
I think people are underestimating how good Sasha can become once he grows. He is incredibly tiny. So tiny that usually riders that tiny are riding with almost no seat foam because they cant reach the ground with their feet. He looks like a 13 years old Roczen when Roczen rode a 250.
Anyone that tiny is giving up a lot to the "normal sized" riders and even the slightly too heavy riders.
I need pay more attention to schedules and times. I catch a race every now and then but don’t follow all that close. It’s good racing on some wicked tracks.
This is my third year following the MXGP series via MXGP TV and I’m very much enjoying it. Super frustrated when Lucas is impatient and crashes early, but he seems to have brought it around at the last three venues. Prado has really upped his game this year and is able to win without getting the holeshot, as was his MO last year. Looking forward to when Jorge is full-time in the USA 2025
MX2 has been pretty good the last few years. Most of those guys go for it. I am surprised with Laengenfelder this year. He was my pick to win the championship in MX2. Not sure how you can dislike Adamo, hes a pretty cool dude. De Wolf has finally started to live up to the hype, but I still think this comes down to the wire. Lucas is impressive so far, and really starting to figure it out.
As for MXGP, its going to be tight between Gajser and Prado.
People used to say the same about Prado
That's all been great but holy crap what a battle in MX1! We haven't seen a championship go back and forth this much (and not due to injuries) in a LONG time. Tim and Jorge are so evenly matched. I think Tim is the slightly more well-rounded rider given his consistency regardless of conditions, but Jorge has a slight edge in speed.
So fun watching them battle.
It is a fun year in both classes, a bit of a hard time being a Herlings fan though.
MX2 I think it will go between de Wolf and Coenen. Dont forget Laengefelder broke his collarbone and rode with the thing plated the week after. Talk about heart! Elzinga keeping the Yamaha spirits up, after Benistants' crash and Bonacorsi moving to MXGP.
MXGP is awesome with Gajser and Prado. I'm rooting for Gajser, such a humble guy
Another thing i'd like to add. The performances of Kevin Horgmo are impressive to me. Never thought he would be this good in his rookie MXGP year
Anyone know when Geerts & Renaux will be back?
The zero prize money system is s**t but no way that is a factor (not even slightly) in the decision for guys like Prado, Vialle, Coenen etc to go or not go to the USA. These guys get paid by the factories and brands, and so much that 50k isnt a factor in the decision at all.
The zero prize money is awfull for guys like Henry Jacobi and a major reason why they only do a couple of GPs a year. Add in that there is no contingency system from parts brands like in the US (i think that is the name for it right?).
Renaux looks like he will miss the rest of the year most likely, maybe back for the last 2-3 GPs. The plan for Geerts is set to be back at Lommel, maybe Czech Republic.
I call bs. I bet Coenen, de wolf and Adamo make less in a year than RJ Hampshire made in winning 3 sx races this year. Those guys want to come here for the money. Making an extra 10k a weekend winning mxgp would absolutely make them want to stay
Pit Row
I don't know off RJ Hampshire makes more money......but of you win in mx2 then you can oearn a lot of money.......otherwise jago geerts wound't live in monaco......
renner dude has to be trolling
Prado is probably still lighter than most of his 450 competition though. There's no doubt it's a major advantage. Remember Zach Bell? He was just as tiny as Sacha and ripped holeshots all the time, he also crashed a lot too, it's probably not as easy for guys that size to handle the bike if they haven't built enough strength yet.
I just go based off of what emx and mx2 manager tell me. You’d be surprised at how little some of these “factory” guys actually make.
Man the track this past weekend looked demanding. Rough & choppy.
I agree, The pay structure is not very profitable in MX2.
some of the top 10 guys make twice as much in start money for the off-weekend regional races as they do in MX2.
Races like Dutch Masters and the Coupe de l’Avenir in Belgium are big money.
Overall the USA guys who are on factory teams are making a significant amount more, but then again they have to race supercross also...
But what about Bonacorsi. Dude went right from EMX2 to the MXGP and right in the mix. Impressed me so far
I dont recall exactly what he said but Guillem Farres talked about that in an interview when he was at star. I believe he said that rookies with zero results at Star like Leblanc made as much in salary as top 3 MX2 rider Längenfelder.
No i am not surprised that a factory guy like Elzinga makes peanuts. That's why i named Prado, Coenen and de Wolf as examples, so the best of the best.
Prado is a multi millionaire and a new contract for Lucas Coenen will be massive regardless if it is in the US or Europe.
Saying the lack of purse from Infront being a main reason for these guys to consider the USA is just plain trolling.
Didn’t say it was the main reason. But it is a big reason. Hence why all the gp guys will bring up no purse money in mxgp. If that was a non factor they wouldn’t say a word about it
Just a side note about 'prize'; money.
A few years ago, they'd award some money to the Holeshot getters - when the Moto / Overall money had long, Long since disappeared.
A few riders when getting their oversized cheque, would comment on actually getting a bit of Money. I can't recalll if it was per start, or if it was in an accumulated scoring of Holeshots.
Their sarcasm / digs, obviously upset Luongo etc. so said 'prize' money 'disappeared' as well. Into Luongos' pockets, I would expect.
Not long ago the holeshot prize on each race was something like 250€...mxgp is to much down on prizes than Ama.
