But seriously I don’t think that but has the paced stepped up a lot this year and Eli is struggling for pace or is this just a typical Eli bad 1st round?
Typical Eli, he did say he had to change his whole setup to run the newer tires, however I don’t think it’s going work out to where you can have a tenth place finish and then make up that large amount points.
It's the first round, chill out.
His fast lap wasn't that far off. When they showed him near the end it looked like he was tired .
Eli is too smart to push when there's no need. A1 is not that significant to him.

Should I not have eaten that gas station sushi.....
He's been back on the bike for maybe a month and a half, that's what it looked like tonight. Anything can happen, hopefully he stays healthy to improve from here.
I'm just happy he's racing...
Gas station sushi……..wow all we got in Texas is gas station burritos. Allsups burritos ain’t half bad.
Be interesting to see if Eli has still got it. He was out a long time.
His 2 championship years he went 6th and 7th at A1. He’s still going to be the guy to beat once we are a few rounds into this thing IMO. Not worried!
Loudess cheers in the stadium
How about we give it a couple more races before we throw this thought out there.
Why are you guys overreacting? His first rounds are usually terrible. Didn’t he finish like 7th the year he won his first Yamaha title? Wasn’t he terrible at pala when he won mx title? Cmon fellas…
Maybe he’s not so smart- with the firm Jett looks to be in, every race needs to be significant.
He also only has 2 sx titles in 11 years.
Yet ppl talk like he knows how to manage a sx series.
Of all the all timers he is the worst at managing a sx series.
He will have or be close to the points lead by round 11, in a tight battle with Webb and Jett.
Would put Anderson in the mix, but think he will piss off to many people again and end up in a silly take out.
Sure you weren’t watching him in his Yamaha championship year?
The Tomac train is in panic mode. 10th place and his main rival walked away with a win….
This won’t fly well on here, but the chances is yes.
and why? Because he has passed 30 and aint getting any younger. He has a family and those things can change things in your head.
He might be in the Roczen position where if he don’t feel it a 100% he won’t push it.
If you look at Jett and Sexton, they will push, AND what we have seen the last year, they also have a better pace now than Tomac.
I belive that he will crawl his way back towards the top, but i doubt that he will win another championship again unless Jett or Sexton gets hurt.
Pit Row
nope!......likely his worst finish of the season.......................
A year to long for Tomac? Absolutely not.
Please note that had it not being for his unfortunate injury last year he would be carrying the #1 plate now.
12 points down on the current leader with 16 or whatever more rounds left. He ain't worried.
Waaaaay too soon to write him off...
Im afraid to say, Yz450fkid is very accurate on this one.
I don't 'get' this weird bear shit..
I'm not trying to shit on tomac.
He is one of the greatest.
He has 50 odd wins but only managed to turn that into 2 titles.
Multiple years that he should have won the title he found ways to lose it.
Now in 24 ppl acting like he is the 2nd greatest ever and knows how to manage the sx series.
In 16 he got 4th and didn't win
5th in 17 and didn't win
22nd in 18 no championship
3rd in 19 and no championship
7th in 20 and won
13th in 21 no championship
6th in 22 and won
1st in 23 and we know what happened there.
So some people think a bad opening race doesn't effect tomac.
I think he starts his sx campaign off on the back foot and struggles to recover. Otherwise he would have the 4 or 5 sx titles that he should have.
Top Ten with the deepest field ever in SX?
Come get some!
You have had to be around here back in 06 to now to get it.
It's a meme to describe
"The thread is dead" move on
Just the first race, he'll get it going, even if he doesn't he still came back and is one of the goats.
He looked very tired and he was cruising the end of the main safely. He need time but I think it's gonna be a little tougher to be back at his best form than before. Not surprised. I will judge him after round 4 to have a good idea of what to expect from ET3.
Barcia is in the same kind of spot.
Eli was very disappointing. He is my favorite rider. That main was hard to watch. We started seeing his decline last year. But somehow I convinced myself that he was going to be the old Eli this year.
At least he milked a few more million dollars from Star.
