Listened to about 20 minutes of a “media” guy talking to another “media” guy about what a third “media” guy said.
Is this really the content they think we want?Maybe we have hit the oversaturated mark if this is the best story to tell.
I thought it was an interesting listen.
You made it further than me, It was like listening to a couple of high school girls gossip.
Hopper is an industry ass kisser. I've got no interest in listening to him.
I'd listen to this before listening to yet another show where someone is once again rattling on about what's gonna happen when Jett and deegs are both in the 450 class.

The whole “the question that blew up the industry” narrative is so crazy to me. I think Matthes talked about it for a few minutes on his review pod and said he personally didn’t like it since it could put AP in a weird spot and that was it. God forbid the guy have an opinion. Then Gypsy and Hopper glom onto those couple of remarks and create an entire weeks worth of drama. Whack.
There is no forgiving Hopper for his press release questions to AP regaring Eli's future.
Hopper is a clown
HUGE Gypsy fan but that was fucking pathetic and even as I love Gypsy’s work I had to cut it off.
I listened to most of it. It started really going downhill when hopper was getting into his financial woes.
No hate, really I think that he's really good at what he does and always has some of the best questions in the press conference. However, there is something really humorous to me about a long form podcast where it is slowly revealed that the person being interviewed is a bit of a nutjob. The slow burn always gets me. A podcast is the perfect media for this type of thing to form. I'm glad that Gypsy suggested that he try therapy because I think the dude may need it. He seemed really torn up about it all.
gypsy needs to go back. Convict!
This is an interesting observation. Lex Fridman said the longform podcasts are revealing in that way. Someone can stay on script for an hour but longer than that they'll start really revealing who they are and what's going on.
As an Aussie, this made me chuckle.
The best part was Hopper was acting like he is badass investor because he bought some bitcoin horseshit and then lost his ass. Who cares that his wife has a Sequoia or whatever. I stopped listening after that, but tried.
All true. I still contend that the press conferences are more for media people to get their name out there for self promotion than finding out any real information. Less known media want to ask their question so that their name is mentioned and they can get some new subscribers.
Pulp and Vital are on the right track with getting real post race interviews. I just wish the AMA would enforce the riders to attend the media scrum somehow. Even with them talking it up, not very many riders are showing up.
How does he have an audience at all? Every Vital thread about him is so bad I've never once opened his content.
Also, what a dumbass if he said that about Bitcoin. Anyone that ever "invested" in BTC rather than "gambled" in BTC is up right now.
Why?
How would he have lost his ass on Bitcoin?
No clue. He said he lost 250K in a day from some Singapore scam or something
Pit Row
Oh jesus. I was gonna say how did he fuck up Bitcoin? He probably got scammed on some meme coin or some nonsense
I haven't watched anything but I found it odd that- Weege brings up the question on our race review..myself, JT and Weege all agree that the question should've been for ET (who was right there) but Hooper was trying for a gotcha moment. Maybe not but we (I think) respectfully disagree with Johnny. I have no issues with Johnny and said so in the video. It was a 3 minute discussion.
From that, Hopper takes that content and makes his own video from it (without asking if he could use my stuff- I understand he doesn't have to ask but what about some professional courtesy, he does know me) and then Gypsy uses my name (not JT or Weege) in a sub-headline to talk to Hopper about it? Like, where does JT and Weege come into this? Why just me? And why can't people just agree to disagree? Do we need to make two or three videos about it? Struck me as super weird.
The guy that goes to 5-6 races a year, produces no written/video content from the races he goes to, puts out a tweet saying I should be in the PC? Like, bro I'm out there talking to the guys 4th on back and I'll go back to the PC video after that. Someone can come in here and maybe tell me I'm off base but the whole thing was a nothing burger blown into using only my name, making their own videos from it, etc.
Am I off here or ?
For the most part i seem to find more interest in Whiskey throttle show. I like the deep dives with the riders of the past.
Damn, I was thinking he interviewed John Hopkins haha.
He explained what it was and it sounded sketchy .
He was using crypto futures, which is highly leveraged. I believe it was ethereum also, which hasn’t had the same run that bitcoin has had in the last year. He seemed to not realize what he was doing is not investing, it is gambling.
I’ve listened to some of his crypto videos, he doesn’t know nearly as much as he thinks he does. Judging by how he didn’t seem to want to accept it was his fault, it will probably happen again.
Hopper/Gypsy got exactly what they wanted from something that was such a nothing burger.
I guess we’re old and don’t understand this whole social media thing but to make this much content out of you guys disagreeing with Hopper’s question is just so bizarre for me and instead of talking about where Tomac could potentially be going in 26’, they’re now talking about what you said and how it was “wrong”.
It’s almost impressive that they made a 4 hour podcast talking about it, imagine if all of that energy went towards questioning for riders 4th place and back 🤯🙃
Gypsy and Hopper are trying to ride your coattails in the new social media way. Talk shit, maybe win a few fans, and fight some of their insecurities or jealousy by getting somebody to agree.
Like you pay phil for.
Pulp is great. I love the perspective, honesty, and hearing from riders you've earned the relationships with.
Gypsy gets great guests. I would clown him all day if he was in my crew... he's a gooner, but I think his heart is in the right place most of the time, EXCEPT his privateer view. Fuck that noise. Taking away the dream of a guy who beleives in himself and can afford to get to one race and see if he's got what it takes is an executionable offense. He wants "career mode" out of a video game - and how many would make it from a feeder series with no real sponsor money - cause only 1/10 of the viewership. That perspective is either naive or elitist.
Hopper isnt for me at all. Just trying so hard, just comes off weird.
Bro when you established the University that must have been sick bro. It reminds me of the time I . . .
Consider it a badge of honor I guess.
Well said Steve! 💪
Yep I didn't make it far before I decided it want going anywhere. If you are going to talk shit then have the balls to just talk it not try and beat around the bush.
