A few friends of mine and I might make the trip over to Budds Creek this year. I have never been and I had a few questions to anyone who has been there.
Where is the best place to watch the motos? Is there anywhere you can see the majority of the track? I’ve heard it isn’t the best for viewing. Is it best to just move around each moto?
Anything I absolutely have to do or get at the racetrack? Millville has some must haves from some local vendors at the track, so I was curious if Budds had anything similar.
If there’s anything else you guys feel I need to know, go ahead and drop them in the comments below. Thank you all in advance.
I've always been stuck in the mechanics area but from walking the track there are a bunch of pretty good spots but regardless of where you are you aint gonna see everything.
Never been for a national but you can see almost all of the track from most spots. I would just prepare for it to be really hot and humid.
Budds has great viewing areas of the track. I constantly move around during the national, but the best spot is probably up by the announcing tower at the off camber turn right before the downhill triple (if it’s there this year). You can track riders around practically the entire track there and it’s shaded.
Budds Creek is home for me!
Henry hill just inside the tunnel is about the best viewing area.
There is a BBQ guy that lives right right around the corner from the track that usually sells BBQ that is really good.
you are in Chesapeake Bay central so go eat Blue Crabs! Captain Leonards is my favorite place and is 10-15 minutes from the track and you can leave your Old Bay at home.

We went last year. Been trying to travel to an out-of-town race each year. If you look up the track map on Racer X, we stood along the fence at what their graphic shows as Turn 18. I’m not sure how to explain. It’s past the pond, infield on the track. You can see a lot of the track from there. Just rotate to see different parts of the track. Can also walk 50 yards over towards the pond to see the start. It was extremely hot and humid though, so bring sunscreen and a full cooler.
I live in northern Md and don’t have alot to add.
as mentioned, the two hills to the right of Henry hill are good.
that being said, take camping chairs and a garden trowel (to dig in on angled hills) and travel light. Just keep moving.
Get a double crab cake dinner somewhere that is well rated. There are good seafood restaurants all over that area. It’s 2023 so use social media and your wife/fiancé/gf to find the best dining area
stay away from dc unless you are cool with cities and have a penchant for politics and history
and then of course, enjoy the race. I may still go, I don’t know. I might go riding instead
"Where is the best place to watch the motos?"
Home on TV 📺 👌
You can easily spend a week in Washington DC seeing the monuments and museums. Hotels in that area aren’t priced that bad.
Yum!
One of the best tracks for spectators imo. Lots of trees for shade and the track is fairly contained so its very easy to just walk for a minute to another spot. Watch out for bees, the last few years there's been wasps that burrow in the ground near trees on several parts of the spectator areas.
Whoever told you it's not good for spectating is whack. Still a great plan to move around throughout the day. Set up a home base with a blanket and your cooler and bring a backpack to carry your beer and water when you're walking about. Grab a couple of those disposable ponchos if there's any chance of rain. Sunscreen.
Setup early at the bottom of Henry Hill. From there you can see 90% of what matters.
Definitely the best I've been to. If you're in the infield on the grass you can see practically the whole track. It's about a 6hr drive but I usually go every year. I find you get out of there pretty quick too. You aren't sitting in traffic much at all
Spend practice walking around taking in the views, and scoping out where you want to stand, you’ll find some killer spots. Don’t be afraid to basically go hiking spot to spot.
Hell, I've never been there and I know you can see 90% of the track from the infield. Any track made in a valley is gold for viewing.
Of the handful of tracks I’ve been to in northeast, I’m going to say Budds has the best viewing
