Heard from someone there a kid got struck while riding but has a good heart beat. Hope thats true, very scary 🙏

I was wondering why live timing came to a halt. 
Insane occurrence. Hope the rider will be okay. 

Have you guys ever heard about a rider getting struck by lightning at an amateur national? 
Can’t say that I have. 

Someone thats there said the storm moved in quickly while that race was on the track. Just something you dont think about while at the track with your family. Hoping he is okay 🙏.

Yes, in 250B, first moto after LCQ_Consi races.  Saw it happen. Happened after a red flag restart.  

They gave him CPR off the track and into ambulance.  

Track was on weather delay when I left at 2pm.  

Races canceled for remainder of day. Pick back up with moto #2 second round in the morning

I am here at the hospital with him in Dallas. His dad will be arriving this evening. The doctors are very encouraged by the way he is presenting

never really considered lightning a threat until i had a vehicle get struck. it can be some scary stuff. hope the kid makes a full recovery.

Lightning has around a 90% survival rate. So thoughts with the family hope he will fully recover!

Always trying to find light in a situation, if it were me, first things I wanna read about it is something to make me laugh. 
 

Any time a rider ends up in the hospital it's never funny, no matter the age. Calm down there my friend.

Back in the early 80s the 250 class were lined up for the start. Right before the gate drop lightning hit my buddy and the guy next to him on the right side of the line. 4 or 5 guys on each side of them got knocked for a loop. Luckily no one got seriously hurt or burned. My friend's hands got screwed up. He couldn't hold onto his handlebars for almost a month. 

Best wishes to the young man involved in this incident!  I'm sure nobody woke up this morning thinking this would be the outcome of a beautiful day at the track.
