Commanders and Guardians 🙄

Can we get these legendary sports teams to change back to their respective original names instead of these lame names?

I wonder how much their Jersey sales have dropped like stones.

Oh yeah, I wanna go get a Commanders Jersey. 🤣😂

My neighbor that lives in the front house is pure Cherokee indian. Also a goddam democrat.  I joke with her about sneaking up on me and shit. Anyway, she also says that she likes the original names. Nothing but but a bunch of guilty white liberals came up with that shit.

Growing up, my 1/2 Nez Perce grandfather made me into an Indians fan. I still have the jersey he gave me when I was 10. I've followed them my whole life until the last few years. After the name change, I don't feel the same connection to my granddad. I'm now a Cubs fan.

He would have been pissed if he'd lived to see it.

It seems the actual Native Americans weren't so angry about the name in the first place, after all.

Not too long ago, there was a similar outcry about the SDSU Mascot, Monte Montezuma. He was a character, dressed in full Aztec regalia, representing the proud Aztec warrior mascot that the school adopted long ago. His detractors got the character removed from the school, citing racism - they claimed because he carried a spear that it was akin to calling all indigenous peoples "spear chuckers," or some kind of similar, unfounded complaint. Also, since college kids tend to drink, and the guy in the mascot costume was a college student, then the implication was apparently that "all indigenous peoples are drunks." Pay no heed to the fact that the mascot actually celebrates a glorious, powerful historical society -oh, no- it's not admiration, it's hate and cultural appropriation!
To my knowledge, the student body did not want Monte removed - at least not in any majority way. Hysterical, unfounded proxy rage based on nebulous, illogical reasoning and virtue signaling is all it was. It's a shame. At least SDSU students are still "Aztecs."

Sadly, my own alma mater, CSULB, completely changed its mascot and our sports names from The '49ers to The Sharks or something like that recently, and it's even more a tenuous connection: The school was founded in 1949, but we had a Prospector as a mascot. (The connection to the California Gold Rush of 1849 is the obvious origin.) The "Everything Is Obviously Racist" woke mob got the school to change because Prospector Pete represented a privileged, white male who came to California and robbed the indigenous people of their riches. (News flash, if anything, it was the Spaniards and later the Republic of Mexico who did that - The USA merely swept in after the Mexican American war and -gasp- allowed all the landowners to continue owning their lands.) Another poorly thought out criticism of the past. Anyway, I don't think a '49er is a terribly racist thing to be, but if I'm wrong I apologize.

I don't want to continue using traditions and mascots if they are truly racist, but I don't think these two examples are the "wrong side of history" examples that they were touted as being. I don't recall throngs of people with indigenous ethnicities being truly offended by these brands which celebrated their history and culture.

Notice the quotation marks?

So, I’ll restate it for the record…

🔥 “Joe Walsh Explodes Over Super Bowl 2026: ‘Bad Bunny Is the Wrong Choice!’”

In a fiery and unexpected statement, Joe Walsh has openly blasted the NFL for choosing Bad Bunny as the headliner of Super Bowl 2026. The rock legend, known for his iconic guitar riffs and outspoken honesty, didn’t hold back when he called the decision “a cheap stunt designed to stir drama, not celebrate music.”

WATCH HERE: https://booknest.org/posts/joe-walsh-explodes-super-bowl-bunny-wrong-thuydungmh123-nslp

“For me, this isn’t about art anymore — it’s about chaos,” Walsh declared. His words sent shockwaves through the industry, igniting an instant firestorm online. Fans and critics alike were stunned as he went further, accusing the NFL of deliberately courting controversy by spotlighting an artist who, he claims, has a track record of racist behavior and controversial stances, while also being used as an easy lightning rod because of his LGBT identity.

“Bad Bunny is not here for the music,” Walsh continued. “He’s here because the league wants noise. They want headlines, arguments, and division. They’re turning the biggest stage in America into a circus.”

His explosive comments lit up social media within minutes. Supporters applauded him for saying out loud what many were already thinking — that the Super Bowl has shifted from being a legendary celebration of music and sport into a global experiment, testing just how much drama audiences are willing to consume.

Some even echoed Walsh’s biting description, calling Bad Bunny not a superstar guest but “the golden mouse in the NFL’s global laboratory.” The big question now: Will Walsh’s bold stand spark a larger revolt among artists, or will the NFL double down on its gamble?

👉 So, in the end, will Super Bowl 2026 be a musical pinnacle… or a long slide that turns audiences away?

I rarely agree with Joe’s opinions outside of music (of which I am a fan) but I do agree with him on this.  Roger Goodell is doing his best to kill the NFL and it didn’t start with Funny Bunny.  The cliff is near.

What? I thought they were the "dirt bags". Maybe that's just the baseball team LOL. My daughter's also an alum from your university. They have been claiming for years that they were going to transition to a UC due to the size of the university. But back to the team thing, just about every team has a caricature of their "mascot". It's to make things fun and memorable. Does this look like a real "falcon"?

I think lots of 70's, 80's, and 90's rock stars wore drag as well. They do it to start people talking, no such thing as bad publicity or something...

Yup. Bring back funny commercials, and music that most of the audience can somewhat enjoy.  I promise wives, girlfriends and teenage daughters will still watch but the actual football fans will be happier.

The superbowl had a rap act last year.  Why not mix it up?   Get some old school rock,  or if not that,  some country. Anything different.

Where’s The Science when it comes to their Severe Wokeism?

I don't care for this guy very much but what he says is very much true. Wokeism is dead, so why is the NFL still pushing it with all their stupid logos on the field and on player's helmets? 🙄

Maybe we need to elect people who aren't old as hell..

And you kinda have to laugh that Trumps favorite thing to say was "sleepy Joe Biden".

There is no comparison between the two. President Trump is the hardest working president I have seen in my life time. Sleepy Joe on the other hand was the most incompetent, worst president of my life time. Please do not forget how bad it was. Do not let these leftists take control again. They’ll go right back to open borders, gun control, expanding welfare, promoting transexuals, men in women’s sports, diluting the strength of our military, inflation, crime, benefits for illegal aliens, diversity, equity, and inclusion, law fare, high gas prices, high electricity prices, electric vehicles, being seen as weak on the world stage,  and everything else that sucked so much during the biden term. Never forget!

So I turned on my TV this morning and before Gunsmoke was on this displayed. 🙄

Sucks getting old but I sure am glad I lived in a good era to be young and alive and not a pussy that might be offended by a show like Gunsmoke. 🤬
