Can you Imagine if he picked Winsom Sears?

There would be a national melt down.

If he picked Manchin it would be the most sweeping presidential vote in history. But Imma go with Ted.

First you’d need to know enough to spell her name correctly….

😎

And then you’d need to know enough about her to know that she is a naturalized citizen, not a natural born citizen. So yeah, there could be a national meltdown if he had so little understanding of our constitution that he chose her.

Pretty sure that’s what you were referring to, right?

edit-didn’t read to the bottom so didn’t realize that sully had already pointed out her ineligibility.

What?  You must be joking!  There’s no way that any true patriot could ever support a candidate that wants to, or would even suggest, “the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”

No one could ever back someone with such an unAmerican declaration as that, could they?!?!?!?!

I'm not advocating for anything.

I was pointing out the constitution can be amended, as has happened 27 times!

VP can’t be Trump 2.0. Need to balance the ticket.  Nobody’s gonna out-Trump Trump, nor would he allow them to. The spotlight’s gotta be on him, and a dynamic personality is a non-starter.

Tucker Carlson. No one cares if this tool ruins his career.

The votes don’t matter. The Dems will get Biden in. They’ve had a four year headstart- voting machines, judges in the swing states, poll watchers, heavies (muscle that will threaten ballot counters and their families), extra ballot dumpers, media, DOJ, FBI, Republicans that are bought off, etc.

MSNBC keeps saying the bad orange man is going to prison and he can't run for president. Why does he need a VP?

For those of you with no sense of humor, I feel sorry for you. This is a thread with options like Ice Cube, do you really think anything is serious?

Also, while it's believed that's a requirement, the constitution is silent on that. And if you believe that being in succession to the president requires that, you'd also have to make that argument for the speaker of the house then as they are next in line, again silent on that. So while it's believed, it's never been tested in court. One could serve as the vice president with the understanding that they'd just be passed over. It'd be a risky move but it's never been challenged.

In the sense that it won’t matter anyway, they should allow this lady.

The biggest reason she could never be Trump's VP, he surrounds himself with 8s, 9s, and 10s.

It is what it is folks.

Or, in the case of the current administration, completely disregarded.

Here is the text of section one, article two of the Constitution:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Now, obviously there would be all kinds of legal wrangling by very powerful entities, but I read that as saying, "You must have been born here or must have attained citizenship before the Constitution was written to be eligible for the office of President. You are not eligible even if you are naturalized after the Constitution was written." Since the rule doesn't mention being elected to office but rather eligible for it at all, I take that to also mean that you cannot be promoted to President via succession from the lower offices, either.
I understand there may be some exceptions for persons who were born elsewhere but meet the requirements of birthright citizenship (such as when your parents are US citizens, but on vacation overseas when you are born.)

And? I'm missing the part of VP requirement. Yes we all think the VP has the position to automatically step in as President. But the VP does a lot more. So with the understanding the VP gets passed over to Speaker should the need arise, I'm not seeing where it says requirements for VP. And yes most people believe it a requirement but as it stands, it's not until the court says so.

^ Right. But if the President dies, an ineligible VP could not succeed. Nor a Speaker of the House, President Pro Tempore, Secretary of State, etc. That's the way I understand the language, anyway. I suppose, like you said, it's never been tested in court so who knows what the outcome would be? Courts have been known to rule in ways that make me scratch my head.

I absolutely agree he/she could not be president. It's just unknown if he/she could be vice president. It's definitely a risky move to do because you never know who the speaker will be that will get the presidency. Smarter people than me need to sort it out.
