MXGP is an international series. US nationals, it’s cool we pull from all over, but it isn’t really the same vibe.

I would say it's Daddy Deegan doing, the 2 big dogs in both classes are not from America, it's just trying to build and win over American doubters to cheer for him, always building the brand and rightfully so.

Yeah look from an Aussie perspective I don't see it as a big deal and I think Steve is totally misreading this, from the outside in it appears as though the Lawrences have been embraced pretty well over there... And Jett had an Aussie flag on the podium as well so all is even lol

Deegan's entire life has revolved around creating a narrative that will garner clicks and views. I would say he knows exactly what he's doing vs. just being the most patriotic guy on the podium. Is he trying to divide the fans? I don't necessarily agree with that (even though maybe some of the knuckle draggers will inevitably do that) but I would say everything he says is calculated to get the most eyes on him, even if it could be seen as pandering. "No such thing as bad press." 

No one has complained about AP when he's selling the rootin' tootin', America lovin' Cowboy from Ohio image. It's all in the presentation and I would guess the Deegan's know exactly how to keep people talking about them and that has a part in a lot of his public comments, whether it's the podium or the press conference. Seem's like he's single handedly had the most polarizing moments between anybody else just in his rookie year.

Isn't patriotism the whole point of the Olympics?  Isn't it the whole point of international and world competitions?  Why do they even keep score?  Are French not supposed to proud of France?  Are Italians, Canadians, Mexicans or any other nationality not supposed to have pride of their country?  

It that hard to understand how deranged a person has to be to say someone is creating a divide by being patriotic to their country.  Any country.  There is no excuse, no exception, no explanation for the disfunction going on in that person's head.  Any person like that, you can damn sure count on what they are accusing is what they are doing.
