I just watched Joe groveling on TV Grinning I have to voice my backing for Neil Young and Joni Mitchell on this one; IMO, Joe’s contributions to society seem to pale in comparison and the point they are making is valid and their actions seem to be working as my first sentence above indicates.

Can you imagine liberals from the 70’s doing this? They were quite the opposite..

My general feeling is- if you don’t have a strong enough/convincing enough argument on your position- censoring opposing arguments is the only way to win..

How about the right winger’s trying really hard to take away peoples freedoms to vote? Voting is kind of important for democracy to survive. What rights are the liberals taking away from you?…The right to keep a pandemic alive?…The right to

What I find ironic about voter ID is in some cities you need to disclose your medical history and show ID to eat at a restaurant, but having to show ID to vote for President of the United States is somehow oppressive and evil.

I didn’t read the entire thread, but this was surprising.

Edit: I’m not sure if that video will play if you don’t have TikTok. It’s basically Joe Rogan calling people whackos, paranoid and delusional for not trusting vaccines.

You've never changed your mind once you've been exposed to more information on a specific subject?

Of course, the surprising parts were how adamant and aggressive he was with the name calling, and saying people want it to be a conspiracy.

To be fair....when he said those things , most people were scared to death of Covid and we had no protection that was proven. There are many things that have changed a lot , and with that , so did our points of view.

But besides all that..... Chip , how the heck are you? Been quite some time. Hope you are doing good!

That's good to hear man. I'm doing pretty good as well. Just swamped with work. Which kinda sucks because Jan - Feb are supposed to be my slower months. And if I'm this busy now , spring and summer could be overwhelming. I gotta learn how to tell people " No " I guess , so I can some how do some fun stuff this year. Yeah right......that's what I always tell myself anyways.

I'm not sure if you are truly ired by this or just commenting on the subject but I have to take the opportunity to assume that you do see irony here. Forgive me if I am preaching to the choir but we have a political class these days that is so beneath contempt that I stopped paying any attention to anything they say several years ago. To put it another way, you are trying to reason with a rattlesnake. Your comment, however reasonable it is, and I think it is, will not cause 1 politician to have a facepalm moment over their ridiculous dichotomy. If they can saddle their political opponent with anything that will cause damage, however untrue, they will. I know this sounds very cynical but I'm an old guy. I've been watching this shit for 40 years. I have completely lost hope that anybody in government has our country as a priority over their own personal gain. Their used to be quite a few but not anymore.

Obviously there are vital members that don’t understand the MANY ways disenfranchisement occurs in our country. Honestly, I’m starting to think some of you don’t even know what that word means. We’ll have to agree to disagree on this subject. You guys win…I feel super stupid after conversing with you all.
I’ll finish with this. Why do you all think Joe was contrite and apologetic?

Want people to take you seriously? Reign in the superiority complex. Still won't make you correct, but it'll do a lot more to further the discussion.

I've gotta cut Doc a little room...we all get tired of the arrogance and virtue signaling that gets thrown around and it can give cause to disagreement that might not even be based in disagreement to begin with.

Our arguments sometimes go off the rails because we're all so F'ing Over This Madness. We even end up arguing with guys we often agree with...well...at-least I caught myself doing that and needing to back away and take a look at the actual argument and who I was arguing with.

I've tried to back off and stay in "debate mode". I'll let ya know when I figure out of it's working! Blush

I'm kinda stoked that my household has started listening to Joe due to this Neil Young/Old Hippie Issue. Grinning

I wonder what they would label me as?

Because I simply don't trust any of them any more. I don't trust any of our leaders now day , on the Right or the Left. Especially the ones in charge now. Most of us have to work to death , just to keep the lights on , and if that doesn't kill you in the end.....well , they'll just tax you to death anyways.

Our whole government is corrupt to it's core. How in the hell can the majority of these leaders have a salary of $180,000 / year......and a lot of them are worth 50 - 100 million?

How can we leave 83 Billion dollars worth of military equipment over in Iraq....and nobody blinks a damn eye?? Me , you and every other tax payer , paid for that.....and a 1000 other fuck ups over the past decade or so. And it's getting worse!!

Screw all of them!!

The YEARLY military budget is 720 billion. 83 is a drop in the bucket. This is typical military procedure, you leave behind used equipment in a warzone because it's cheaper to just go buy new toys rather than bring back the old and refurbish them. And the majority of equipment is not just left, it's intentionally sabotaged. You haven't seen the Taliban blowing up shit with American tanks, helicopters, or ground vehicles for a reason. This country WAY outspends the next several countries combined on defense. That allows for such a thing to happen good, bad, or indifferent. It's easy to frivolously spend when you're working with a budget greater than the GDP of most developed nations. I guess it doesn't bother me as much as most because I draw a paycheck from the military industrial complex.

This is why I support the axiom:

VOTE THEM ALL OUT.

I don't care who's in office; that person gets thrown out on his/her head, immediately. If the madness continues with the new person, same. Next.
Politicians: if you want to keep your job, serve THE PEOPLE.

Some of you don’t think voting freedoms are being attacked. One of you thinks Neil Young used to be conservative but changed. Another tried to prove this point by writing the lyrics to one of his songs. Based on this, it’s not far-fetched to think some of you don’t know what the word disenfranchisement means or that you think I have a superiority complex.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/you-see-a-fot-behind-the-fin-cash-regist…

“In an interview with Melody Maker in 1985, Neil Young backed Reagan’s gun control policies and said of AIDS, ‘You go to a supermarket and you see a faggot behind the f***in’ cash register, you don’t want him to handle your potatoes,” Young said, Rolling Stone reported in 2013.

“Needless to say, Young almost certainly regrets that horrific statement and quickly moved away from right-wing politics,” Rolling Stone added. “He wrote the furious anti-George H.W. Bush screed ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ in 1989 and was one of George W. Bush’s most vocal critics in the 2000s.”

I've been a fan of Neil Young since the late 60's.
It doesn't mean anything. He an entertainer.

How are voting freedoms being attacked? Ezza pretty much covered that you're wrong on the Neil Young thing, so let's see if you can get this one right (here's a hint: voting rights aren't being attacked).

The left writing a voting bill with ZERO input from the right is morally wrong…And then expecting people who had ZERO input into the bill to support it is ridiculous..

When folks like you use the term “disenfranchise” - It’s a continuation of the lefts general attitude that minorities are not smart enough to vote on their own without white liberals helping them (and telling them how to vote)..

It’s the same help white liberals have provided to minority communities in large cities throughout America..they are responsible for the awful public schools, high crime, high taxes, homeless, and poverty…

You have to show ID to buy beer or cigs. ,or fly on a plane. But you don't need one to vote for the president of the united States? Cause it's some how racist , or holding someone back from being able to vote??

Showing ID should be required. Please tell me why a person couldn't get an ID , but some how still manages to vote. This prevents from ballot harvesting , people voting more than once , sending in fraud votes , ect.,...

That's what normal people think about Joe.
They know damn well he isn't anything like what MSM tries to smear him as. I could see some lawsuits happening down the road as well.
