From his twitter "Wow ! I just read some news about a top racer being paralyzed and I am so sorry. But I have to say what you think is saving you is not !"

I'll assume hes talking about the "beartrap"?

Either way, some criptik twatter message about another persons injury isnt kosher.

Ryno is a classless piece of shit. Everyone knows he's anti neck brace - if someone really is injured that's not time for him to get on his stupid fucking soap box.

Doesn't matter who it is , or what they ride....if someone got hurt....it's sad news no matter what. For whoever it was......I wish them the best of luck. I guess we'll have to wait to find out who it was.

Did someone from a neck brace company sleep with Ryno's gf or something? That dude latches onto every opportunity to smack talk on neck braces.

He's not dead or paralyzed so that's a tough call. If he had been wearing it who knows if he'd still be alive.

It's no different than what the politicians are doing in relation to gun violence. I don't think Ryno is saying "I told you so" as much as he is trying to educate the riders that conditioning is probably the single best thing you can do to prevent injury. After watching Tomac ragdoll, I have to think he is on to something.

However, I do have to think there could be a better timing and media to send the message he is trying to send.

"IF" I had not worn one, who knows........

it's a double edged sore'd

helmets for the most part prevent head injuries, sometimes not....

to each his own....

Oh! and by the way the same can be said in regards to his tweet about his training....

it's all speculation!

No different than the neck brace companies showing neck braces after crashes and saying "Without so-and-so neck brace this rider would be hurt worse". More power to Ryno, strength training is a proven preventative measure. Prayers to the rider who was hurt.

I beg to differ

I have seen some people with absolutely NO fitness or strength training take some helatious hits and walk away and visa versa

there are NO guarantees...

it's ok to believe what you want, like religion, it's absurd to force the belief that "your" way is the "right" way...

To be honest, that is common sense. If he has to "teach" someone that conditioning is going to help avoid injury then that person needs a lot of help.

More top guys agree with him then not, ask Reed what he thinks about them. I know there is an autopsy that says the brace caused the death, and two more that said the brace could've.

Can you prove the legitimacy of this claim?

and how many would have not had they been wearing some sort of protection?

it's unknown as there is no way to truly measure, so I'll take my chances and wear it

how may guys wear knee braces and still tear ACL's? Why isn't Hughs advocating against them?

they (knee braces) work more times than not and that is all we can go on

knee braces are more for hyperextension than anything. pretty much the same as the "horse collar"

as said before nothing is guaranteed so pick your poison...

Most mx pros, past and present, aren't that bright. The only advice I would take from them is how to ride fast. Sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings.

I have a rider who swears by them...and in fact in 2 seperate situations believes it saved him. Hes not a "top" rider and honestly that should have nothing to do with it. They all ride and take the same risk whether 1st or 40th,

Please find record of the autopsy for us. Pretty bold statement even though I say it's total BS.

I respect Hughes' racing accomplishments, but he is craizer than a shithouse rat.

He is an absolute poster child for "If you're gonna be dumb, ya better be tough."

CamP.... you hit this one out of the park. Most people always want thier favorite athlete to be something greater in every category. The honest truth is, a good percentage of top riders are fast, because they arent too bright. Seriously, the brain doesnt have the "Dude... you are in a pile of danger and are about to drill yourself into the ground" wiring.

Most of the insightful, well rounded fast guys struggle with hanging it way over the edge. ( Dungey... for instance)

Ive witnessed too many interviews with top riders, talked to a few of them in the pits, asked them technical questions about thier bikes, etc, only to realize they didnt have a damn glimmer.

Being a fast motocrosser definitely doesnt equate to intelligence. I bet they get tons of chicks though... They got me there. Ha-ha.

He is stating it like it is a fact. I don't think anyone thinks it is "saving them" but I do think many of us think its better than nothing at all.

Great point. Ryno could twist his right hand harder and longer than a lot of people. His expertise ends there. End of story for the douche bag!
