something has to be done.

make him race with only one grip (his choice which grip)

mandatory use of Ching Shin tyres

use a kx60 gas tank and allow pit stops

an eye patch over one eye (his choice which eye)

3 std. salmon weights installed inside his air box

Maybe tie you to the back of his bike with a 20 ft. rope and drag you around the track behind him. Slows him down, and gives the crowd a race to actually enjoy. A win win.

I was waiting for anybody else on the podium to answer the question of how to deal with RV.
Correct response, "Yes, Ryan is on another level and in the off season we need to learn how to get to that level".

I am reminded of how Roger Decoster back in the day would respond with a loss. His response? "I have to do better".

I'm not saying RD could beat RV but I think he was looking to finish the race healthy more than ahead of RV. He would have taken the win if it presented itself but I think he's testing for SX and is getting a jump on the field. I sure hope he finds that 2 - 5 seconds a lap he needs.

Disagree... RV clearly has an edge this year....

Barcia, Canard, Bubba, Reed, and Dungey need to adapt or get use to finishing second.

RV is a bonafide beast.

You say "off season" are where gains are made, but let me ask you: Have you not seen races where Dungey had the measure of RV? Or had some momentum against him? I have, and then RV comes back a race or two later with "gains made" being faster and/or better.

He improves during the season. It's not like they start the season and their "speed" is a lock and hey... we'll just get after it next year!

This is the time where his team can look at his strengths and weaknesses and adjust their program to limit those weaknesses and enhance his strengths. Furthermore, you can bet RV will be doing the same. Can RD pick up his game? Only RD can answer it.... we'll see round 1

and the bike makes a HUGE difference too...remember RV wasn't actually spanking shit until the new kawy at unadilla last year. i think if rd was on a tuned suzuki he would have had a better chance

Personally, the dude who EARNS it the most is who I like to win. Cause that guy is usually hauling the mail and fun to watch.
Baggett last year was amazing, but in his "speed absence" Eli took over and was the man, just blatant speed and great technique... gotta love it.

I agree RV killed it this year, but it wasn't as though Dungey didn't have several races where he was right on RV but couldn't pass, and had lap times within a 1/2 second or less of RV. He was able to win motos and if he got a good start ahead of RV he did win and even put time on him. He isn't 5 seconds a lap off the guy. You guys make it sound like he has to re-invent the wheel for the love of pearl.
