Besides the "option" for Jeremy Martin to move up to 450's in 2018, what other current 250 riders are looking to move up next year? I couldn't come up with many....Plessinger, Justin Hill, ???

Maybe a better title for this thread would be "which 250 title holders wont have a ride in 2018"

This thread isn't going to go well for Davalos.
It had to be the first response to the thread. It just had to be. SillyGrinning

Plessinger to move into the 450's in '18 and be better than Webb. Stamp it!

McElrath?

Justin Hill is gonna move up IF he wins the west title. If he doesn't, you're gonna see him on a 250 next year, which is a shame because he is much better on the big bike.

As for AP, I get the feeling he is gonna move up anyway... (same for J mart)

AP won't be moving up unless he wins a SX regional title.

Maybe the question should be "who's close to pointing out in 2017?" any one off the top of your head ??

Depends on two things.

1. Who will be forced to move up

2. What rides are available

If you don't have to move up and no good rides available then might as well stay back in 250's.

Martin is not a good starter. He can make up for that on the 250's but that is nearly impossible on the 450's due to the depth of the talent from 1-10 place. If you think Webb is struggling right now just wait till you see Martin give it a go at 450 SX.

Grandpa Davalos will still be racing 250's when his kids are able to qualify for a SX. They will be the first father/son to make the main together. He needs to get out of that class and move up or go to the MXGP's.

I don't think any rider should move up unless forced to including Jmart, he should be 250 indoors and 450 outdoors eventually. He is small.

Over half of the 450 class has 250 sx titles or wins at least, the class is crowded.

Savatgy
He'll take the spot vacated by Grant.
It could happen. You know, out with the old, in with the new.
Maybe AC and Savatgy with both be Kawi when Tomac moves over and takes Dungeys spot when he retires at the end of '17.
Oh shit, just I just say that?

What is the points limit one must stay under to keep eligibility in the 250 SX class? Is it 135 points 3 years in a row?

I'm real excited to see what Martin can do outdoors on a big bike. In MX give me a healthy J Mart over Webb all day. I have seen to many races with Martin and Webb outdoors where Martin was on another level. Should be a podium threat first year outdoors if healthy.

From the rule book:
Effective with the 2007 season points, riders earning at least 135 250SX Championship points in a nine-race season, 120 250SX Championship points in an eight-race season, or 105 250SX Championship points in a seven-race season, in three seasons of 250SX competition will be ineligible for the 250SX class.

Quick look shows that J Mart will most likely point out. There are a few that could be forced out if they win their championship, like Plessinger, Hill, Savatgy, McElrath... I'd assume that at least 2 people are going to have to move up, if not 3.

Nice work Eric. Four of those guys are racing West, so the only guy that could be forced up from SX East is Savatgy.

It's not really an option, he's moving up no matter what.

I'm very confused. The Illuminati said Davalos. Pancake said Martin, I thought he meant Davalos. Not J-Mart? Where am I?

Digging a little bit more in the vault I've got a little longer of a list.

It looks like Davalos and J Mart could point out
Davalos scored 149 points in '14 (9 rounds) and 141 points in '16 (8 rounds)
J Mart 143 in '15 and 147 in '16 (both 8 rounds)

Rest of the guys that could win a championship and be done:
Hill, McElrath, Plessinger
Osborne, Savatgy, A Mart, Craig, Jordon Smith, Hampshire

So I guess we could see a total of 4 forced to move up.
