Built in legend to train him, career mapped out, everything he needed including talent a notch above the comp. Will almost certainly retire without a title despite being firmly in the top 10 all time win list.

Cant handle the pressure. Either he runs away with the title, or he chokes in the final rounds. It's been his MO his entire career.

Not the big one. Didn't say he never achieved rings, but the brass one is what everyone is racing for.

I just heard Roy Orbison sing "It's over" on the radio. Sad song.

He would be multi time SX champ if he was allowed to change settings.

That's subjective and changes depending on the rider...

Been in the class since 2013. Pretty certain he's had plenty of opportunities to change settings.

Yeah, my bad. Doesn't change the fact he still hasn't won the title yet.

Karma. He’s a dirty ass rider. Tries to win championships by taking the points leaders out. Did with dungey tried with cooper. Dirty pos. Not a fan of Tomac anymore.

Tonight didn't seem like a typical Eli choke though. He didn't fade after his first crash and still not even after his 2nd crash. I think those whoops were just tough for him. They were big jumpers which isn't his preference and also really rutted.

Still a choke by definition, but nothing like his usual ways.

It was Cortezanite...a very rare material that distorts the brain-waves of people from Cortez. Cooper had some installed in the tough-blok that Tomac went into twice...

No "choke" at all for Tomac. He went for it and rode his heart out when in reality with Webb sitting at the front of the race he still had no chance for the title.

Eli made a heck of a show tonight as did all the rest of the top four guys. Best race of the year.

He does need to practice jumping whoops though. Maybe MM25 will give him a lesson???

Agree. He was going for it and never gave up. I was happy with the effort it was an exciting race. Gotta say I went to the race and it seems like the Kawi wants to constantly tuck the front end on him. Just a dummy's opinion but I dont think the bike suits him

Oh there's been chokes in the past but this was a different scenario.

So your pushing as hard as you can, make a mistake, need to get back to the front quickly, push hard trying and make another mistake.

I wouldn't call that a choke. I'd say he gave it his best shot and came up short.

Eli is so wildly overrated and is as dull and dim as a can of paint. Simply do not get the mad fanboying over this guy.

He is a choker. He does ride a little dirty but because a bunch of you love the taste of his nuts there is rarely an honest assessment of him.

He lost me when he choked at MXON on his 250 and cost us the title. But y'all do you and oeep thinking he walks on water. It's hilarious.

No one said Eli walks on water. But tonight the guy battled to the lead, crashed in the whoops, got back up and was about to take the lead again. Still ends up 3rd. Pretty impressive and entertaining riding. You clearly have an agenda.

Right.. Eli was pushing it all night. What more can you ask of the kid?. Roll around in the top 10 for 15 years like Windham and maybe twist it a little harder when you luck into a good start?

Let’s talk crap about someone who would run circles around anyone in here. Oh and someone who has actually won a title. But yeah he sucks lol.

Started the year with a back injury, a new bike, a crew chief who wasn’t helping one way or the other and obviously not his usual speed.

Ended as clearly the fastest guy again but short of the title. I’d say it’s not a loss.

People shit on him but forget he hasn’t purely been at fault the last few years, he’s had more than his share of shit luck. Shit, even Bagget and Osborne staying upright would have been a rare assist this year and no bike change would have clearly helped. Coop deserves it but I’d guess Eli wins outdoors.
