What's the deal with moto bikes having a 19in rear and GNCC / trail bikes having 18in rear?

Can you simply put an 18 wheel onto a moto bike?

The 18 inch tyres have a taller profile (higher sidewall) which allows for more give on hard hits, logs rocks etc. They also allow for more flex which is good for traction on hard flat corners.
Yes you can get an 18inch wheel for a mx bike. 19 is preferred because of its predictable feel but 18s arent bad.

The 18" has a taller sidewall which can help prevent flats when you're running lower pressure. It also has a little more flex which gives you a little bit of a softer ride.

The 19" has a smaller sidewall which in terms gives you less flex and a more solid/rigid contact with the ground. More prone to flats if you're running lower pressure.

You can put an 18" wheel on a moto bike just like you can put a 19" wheel on an offroad/trail bike. Comes down to what you prefer.

I can't say I've felt a major difference going to an 18" on my 500, but it looks cool so I'd say it all worked out.

It’s not a huge difference in terms of feel but there’s way better selection of tires for hare scramble/enduro riding in 18”

Also hook up better in technical off-road shit. My friend runs a Tubliss setup and airs down to 5PSI...you would swear the rear tire is glued to the ground.

I run 18" rear on mine. I found a good deal on excel/talon setup with new tires so I snagged them and slapped them on. I doubt most people would feel a difference.

I run an 18 on my bike. I can tell in certain sections. it was easy to mount. which is always a good thing.
