Ryan Villopoto:
"They originally told me, we’re going to dock you after the race. And I’m like, whoa, well you’re restarting so start me now… so then they said okay, yeah, yeah, they must have mis-said what they were originally going to do, and ended up changing it. That was good because whatever happened during the race it’s not like I was stuck with winning and then getting docked. So that was good."

This also caught my attention, "I thought I was past it but it’s obviously the full straightaway."

Does that mean when a Red Cross is out you follow the guidelines until the next corner?

They need to write better rules, write the rules better, and teach them to the riders and people who enforce them, and also come up with a red-cross flagging procedure that takes away any damn excuse a rider can come up with.

BTW, unless it's Daytona, I think you need to include the FIM there. They're the ultimate authority.

I am an RV fan but his comments own just adds more confusion to the entire mess....... RV's comment " but its obviously a full straitaway" totally contradicts his actions on the track with Stewart as he passed him on the same straight as the red cross flags....RV was winning anywayI think , but you never know what could of happened had that even not occurred....

It makes sense. They essentialy had 2 races and the assessed the penalty after the race that it happened in. To asses the penalty st the end of the 2nd race wouldn't have been fair or made sense. The AMA did the right thing.

big villopoto fan, but did anybody catch what else he said that was confusing? "Then there was another red cross and we had a roll a couple sections. Actually Barcia, I seen him get right on me. So we all tightened up there and then I was able to get him here before the whoops and he squared it up, went underneath me. Got me back and I was able to get him here going into the sand."

is it me or is that not how the race happened? hes mentioning the pass and re-pass between him and stewart EARLIER in the race as if it happened after. and then goes on to say the pass he made on him in the sand (also EARLIER) like that was the last pass. short memory i guess.

I agree. Typically they wouldn't have had the opportunity to enforce the penalty until after the race, but with the restart it worked great for RV.

Maybe this is where they should allow headsets in the riders helmets on the track so penalties, like a stop and go in the mechanics area, could be assessed but still allow the rider to control his own fate, to some extent, afterward.

i dont remember exactly what happened, but i remember him saying 'to hell with supercross" an then he got the points back. they found traces of lead in his fuel, but according to them it came from the same supplier as always.

It was a red cross AND 2 yellow flags. Villo broke the rules and got away with it twice in 1 race. I'm with the Monster conspiracy theory.

How was it two races? Were points awarded after the first three laps? It was a restart, nothing more. If they try to play that line, they'll have to be enforcing stop and go penalties and not after the race penalties. They fucked up as usual.

Logical and intelligent. Doesn't belong here, or in AMA sanctioned events...period.

Lots a Hall Monitors in this place who would prefer the positions and points were decided by the AMA and not the racing itself.

I think people who think Monster influences AMA decisions haven't the foggiest idea what they're talking about.

And just for the record, while I appreciate that Monster sponsors the series, I can't say I'm a huge fan.

Good that Ryan was able to issue his own penalty. Riders re-writing the rule book. FunSmile

The fastest guy won. The split second you clowns are whining about, made no difference. The out come would have been the same.

No doubt that RV was probably the fastest guy out there, BUT
i just read the AMA's explanation on the racerx website.

The rules state that you are allowed to pass under a yellow flag, but you must exercise extreme caution.

Who the hell wrote these rules?? Every AMA rule that I have read as an amatuer has stated that you cannot pass under a yellow flag. Pretty sure most motorsports don't allow passing under a yellow flag.

AMA Pro has just proved itself to be a complete joke to me again. They probably let RV get away with it to make it more interesting for the TV viewers since the points chase will be tighter now.

You answered your own question. The answers in your post.

Amatuer and Pro racing.

Also, not every motorsport have the same colored flags and enforce the same rules.

It's not AMA Pro in this case. It's the FIM and and the AMA. AMA Pro Racing has nothing to do with SX; it's an arm of Daytona Motorsports Group unrelated to the AMA and sanctions Outdoor MX, Flat Track and Road Racing. Long story.

The official should never have talked to RV until the race was finished. He made 2 very questionable passes in this race and should have been docked. Ive raced SX before and trust me you can see the flags there easier than an outdoor race. He knew what he was doing. Whether or not the pass happened before or after the flag he took advantage of a situation with a downed rider. To me that is very low.
