Heck you go find 7 or 8 Genovas and this sports will be scraping trying to find enough riders to fill all the slots!

Then there will be Demand, and along with demand the salaries would rise.

Then stacked LCQs lol

A few really, really basic ones:

125s. This vital class needs bolstering, amateur and pro. The people who should be riding this class are both the fan and pro talent foundation of our entire sport.

An adequate development stage in between amateur and pros. This goes along with the last point.

Affordable entry-level race classes (say, a prominent TTR/KLX/CRF/RMZ 125 amateur series, along with some smaller minis that don't cost $5K+).

More cross-promotion with actual natural sister sports like bmx, mountain biking, boardercross, and personal watercraft, and less with sponsor-forced partners, like NASCAR.
I can tell you who is missing right now and we can bring them with a simple phone call and they will absolutely make racing better.

1. Malcom Stewart
2. James Stewart
3. Jake Weimer

I wont add Dean Wilson to that list because I think he is going to do a Chad Reed on us and show up at Anaheim.

Dig a little deeper and lets keep RV2 racing a little longer.

I agree with Matthes about the 250 class. Let him run for President of the AMA for whatever good that will do.

There's lots of really cheap, reliable dirt bikes already on the market. We, as a sport, have chosen to discourage their involvement via our race rules.

Wow

If...seriously..."if"...

You want the "good ol'days" back?

You need a serious change in -2- things:

1. The Economy

2. The Industry's "approach and belief system" as it pertains to what an affordable bike is and who we need to get on dirt bikes.

This ain't no "beat down" on the Industry. Nope, not at all. But, we need a little more "risk" at the highest levels of the game. The kind of risk that guys like Troy Lee have taken.

There IS HOPE!

Just the other day, I rode dirt-bikes with one of the bosses of one of our OEM's. I ain't talking "poser" or easy-trail ride, either. This dude RODE fast and he rode hard. He wasn't scared and his bike RAN!

They call him, "El Jefe"!

You want a healthy "off-road/dirt bike market" with lots of affordable options? It ain't got nuthin to do with racing.

I agree with you, actually 100%.

Real racing™ is (and probably should be) expensive.

But there needs to be a stage between Real Racing™ and completely ignoring Real Racing™. And we, as a sport, have been horrendously bad in our (intentional or otherwise) omission of that market.

More places to ride... that is all that holds me back from buying a new bike. I don't have any where close to ride. I don't want to spend half my day driving to get to a track only to find out it is closed or not prepped decent.

True. I'm friends with the owner of a local Kawi shop and he said he would help out with putting a series back together but there still has to be places to ride.

Land complaints or not, how would he feel about sponsoring a series that put KX-F's at a specific competitive disadvantage?

Alternatively, would his mood shift if it was an all Kawasaki, regardless of model, series?

Haha how would they put KX-Fs at a disadvantage? He is a good guy. They give me deals on anything I buy through them even though I've always been on Honda. They are a Racetech shop and did my suspension. Best money I ever spent on a bike!

Here's one super simple example: Class 150 superdupercross: 2-stroke 125 or 4-stroke 100-240, any current model.

KLX140, We gave you a spot, even a displacement advantage. Now, sponsor our series.

Holigan!

That means the economy is seriously stimulated and credit is loose to those that want to play, buy houses, or manufacture energy drinks to pay big and little name riders. Parents that are willing to spend or sign up for loans and credit cards with no limits.
Whats missing? It is no longer the latest and greatest thing out there.

I'd argue that it was never the best goose of consumer spending to jump back into this credit market. And I'm going back a decade or more to the glory days of motocross expenditure.

And a lot of those who did jump into the fray in the early-oughties were just over-leveraged buyers, the same type who got crushed by consumer mortgages in the sub-prime collapse, generally speaking.

We experienced a lightning-quick lender-derived peak, like many credit-dependant industries, but it takes a special type of person to ignore the same investment trends twice.

Not saying bikes are cheap, but be glad you're not in MTB. Some of these bikes are pushing and over 10k. Not to mention there are no engines in them..

Lots and lots of motocross bikes are well, well over 10K, and haven't come within the same zip code as their rider, who will toss all that garbage.
