I actually ended up second though, we lapped my buddy and I think the other kid got lapped by the leader right before the finish, so it looked like he finished ahead. The track really isn't bad at all, it's just hard when everyone is going for it and that causes a lot of carnage. Happy to be sitting in the stands watching now, that was a long day and I'm spent!
That was an awesome night of racing!
The girl that got 3rd is very pretty.
Well done Josh! Cool to see you on TV!
Pit Row
His luck is gonna run out and his karma is gonna get him, either getting hurt or breaking his own bike. He is a very poor representative for Husqvarna and Rockstar at this point, he is riding as a desperate man.
When Colton hit Webb and Hart they were both entering the no joke lane, total accident. He was having a rough night and was having to ride aggressive to get back to the front. There isn't guys waving blue flags, Colton has to ride aggressive with lappers because they aren't moving over and the tracks are tight.
Good on ya mate, it's good to see you getting amongst it in all the different disciplines.
My 18 year old son Ty rides pro on the #16 Beta.
First part of the day didn't start off so great. First practice he was still tight and feeling things out and never did get his rhythm. Second practice he broke his throttle housing after just one lap! So he went into timed qualifying not feeling all that comfortable and having never really turned a fast lap. As expected his lap wasn't that great and that gave him 5th gate pick for the 1st qualifier.
When we lined up for the qualifier we where surprised to find the way inside gate still open. It wasn't a straight line to the first turn, but still better than gates further out. Even without a great jump he was able to come out with the lead on the first lap. Nothing like battling for the lead to turn your day around! Then as shown in the streaming he crashed, losed the lead then fought back for it!
The heat race for main event gate pick he finished a nice solid 6th against all the main event guys with any real drama.
For the bracket race he was once again lined up against Colton Haaker. Ty was pretty happy to pull the holeshot over Colton (and people think Beta's are slow-LOL) and lead for a bit. It was no surprise when Colton jumped to the inside of him in the log turn taking him out. It's what's expected in bracket racing and from Colton.
In the main he got a decent start, but he said somebody clipped his rear wheel in the log turn and he went down jamming his leg really good. After that he was 14th and got his was back up to 9th at the end. Not a great finish, but not all that bad for a pro main.
Other things from the night. Ty said the big finish line jump was one of the easiest tire doubles he has ever done, even if it was the biggest! Vegas was much smaller, but not shaped as well making it harder.
Having the joker lane where they did was really bad. It caused problems all during the main! Plus I think it's just kinda a dumb thing anyways.
The joker lane is not working out. I don't give Colton a pass for hitting riders twice while they were turning in, no excuse. I'd like to see it be a more difficult shortcut optional line for those that choose to try it.
