Please, AMA or who ever is the decision maker, make this part of the National Championship series. Let's crown a 125 cc National Champion in 2018. Oh, and open up the 250 class to two strokes. Give us what we want.
F*Yeah! That is awesome. Look how full the gate was! Did they have more entries than the 250's?
Pit Row
A 3 round "series" is a start, looks like it had great rider participation, and the fans love it (no offense- but a 125 pro race is much more exciting than the Women MX series that used to fill the down time).
Maybe next year, it turns into an east/west 125 series at all of the MX rounds? What better way to get people involved, give some up and coming (or past their prime) riders a chance to show off in front of a crowd, get some different manufacturers and vendors involved, and have some FUN!
When I put my 2T vs 4T viewing experience into words, it becomes a reality check on how much 4 strokes have changed the game. Here's my 2cents:
125: These guys are kicking a bunch of slow horses....the rider's main fight in the battle is to make the stubborn horse go faster....every bit of energy exerted is is used to build momentum and maintain speed/flow. Only slight ground is made up or lost between riders with better line choices and small mistakes.
250f: These guys are riding wild stallions and often hanging on for dear life. It's a wild ride, so the riders main challenge seems to be staying in the saddle without getting bucked off. They are completely hauling ass which results in more butt pucker follow-the-leader racing. They appear to be completely on the edge and it looks much more dangerous than the 125 pony race.
450's just exaggerate the gap even further.
It will only get worse until we go all electric, at which point we'll have riders that won't have to shift gears.
Black Diesel. Racing has always and forever be about what I/team can do mechanically and physically to beat the competition with in the guidelines. In this sport, the guidelines got messed up as far as I'm concerned.
How much is too much? Should nascar allow 300mph cars at Daytona? Nope. Why? Danger to the driver and fan. We ditched 500 smokers but ended up with 450 thumpers with almost the same horsepower but usable.
Not trying to derail the thread. I just think racing like this and how it trickles down is a good thing.
We need more of this...as in at every single round. Also need a 250 2-stroke class.
Even saw a guy on a TM how cool was that.
