OMG Emig!

Edited Date/Time 7/8/2012 3:36am
I'm ready for all kinds of responses to this but...this guys is drivin me nuts with all his bs about what he did when he raced and races and championships he's won. This broadcast/race isn't about him and his career and it might just be me but it seems every 10 min he has to say something about his career and how rider have beaten his career win and shit.

He is relating his experiences to present day....maybe that's why he was hired?

Bailey was worse at doing that IMO. The only thing that annoys me about Emig is the "fired up" comments. But I like what he does. To struggle with a stutter his whole life and becoming a tv commentator is amazing!

Red Bud is a special place for Emig. Also they were relating to how he raced with Dowd back in the day so it was relevant. David Bailey, who most consider the best moto color man ever, used to bring up his racing experiences at least as much.

When you have 4hrs of broadcasting each week, things are going to get repeated. Don't like it, mute the television.

Wow, some of you can find a complaint about just EVERYTHING that someone says or does.

Watch any stick and ball sport on espn and it is the same. That is why they have former professionals in their sport in the booth to be able to explain situations better than a guy who has never done it.

You're an idiot?
Not only has Jeff accomplished A LOT on the track, but he's overcame a nasty speech impediment. Watch some of his interviews from when he was on 80's and you'll appreciate what he's doing now.

He has 4 titles to his name 3 Outdoor National and 1 Supercross; I'll take that over a bicycle trick rider any day.

I think Emig does an awesome job.

I'd rather listen to opinions from a guy with several champoinships than anybody else. No question about it.

Emig can say anything he wants, he has the credentials to back it up. Plus who ever thought the Jeff Emig of the early mid 90s would end up a race commentator? Know what I'm ma ma ma mean.

I've never heard Emig, but I know Paul Malin does a great job, Maler also talks about himself and I like the fact he knows where riders are riding and why and his experience as a former racer. Enjoy Emig guys, he probably does a great job.

Never watched many other sports obviously? the commentators in Australia do the same thing for all different sports because they usually have 1 or 2 experienced people on the team, better then having commentators with no real world experience on the sport that ask questions like a little kid (cough Ralph lol)

He has come a long way. He used to lock up like a 125 at full song all the time. Now just once in a while, with JW and Ralphie picking up the slack

He has to fill the clock somehow.

Try this: Turn the volume to 0, get a recorder, talk out loud & try to narrate the whole race. Play back & listen to pure stupidity.

Emigs bad? Have you forgotten about Ralph?

To me, Moto commentary hasn't been the same since the classic trio of: Art Eckman, David Bailey and Davey Coombs..

I don't 100% agree with what you're saying, but having Ralph next to him all Supercross season has made him be like this. Every Supercross race it was: "Tell us about you're experiences here Jeff"- from Ralph, in which Emig showed no interest in answering and ignored Ralph on some ocassions.

Now it's outdoors. As ever, the tv coverage isn't brilliant (I know they have multiple options in the booth) but how do you talk about a race for 30 minutes, when you have 0 enthusiasm towards it?

The entire Broadcast is a shambles and has been since they lost full coverage on ESPN-(No clue when it ended)

Hard to believe that with all the modern technology the broadcast is going backwards-(excluding 1st moto live streams)
