I made a 1/2 lap of practice today and my bike started sputtering like a fouled plug. I got back to the pits and we thought maybe float probs. I borrowed a short phillips from Jody Weisel and began to tinker. Got it back on track for another lap and the crank went south I believe.(two smoke fans, cheer here) So I take off my gear and am taking the screw driver back to Jody. I tell him the crank locked up. He says immediately,"we probably have a bike here you can ride." So I go to the line on a 2009 CRF 450. No practice or tinkering, just go to the line. 5th place start, and work my way to the rear of the leader at the white flag. Between motos, moved the bars out of my lap and pulled the hole shot in moto 2.Lead to the finish though I was pressured all the way up until the white flag. 2-1 for 1st. I was happy because it put me into first for the series and I was going to get zero points today. Thanks again Jody and MXA for offering up a great bike to an old moto head.Smile

So what did you think of the bike?

Didn't you just rebuild the engine on your bike?

Hopefully it didn't do any damage to your new top end, and all you have to do is complete the project.

Cool move on MXA and Jody for coming through for you.

I look at it this way.I was hitting a 90ft table and a 70 ft triple Monday night. It could have locked up then.In hindsight I should have done a complete rebuild. It shut down today on a track that has few jumps and it gave me a few signs it was going south so I'm feeling ok about that.Throwing some more money into it? Well,I'm in deep now and won't be buying a new bike anytime soon. I actually love the 07 CRF 450 even after riding the new scoot today, so all is well.

At least it didn't send the rod thru the cases or thru the cylinder.

Cool move from Jody. Do you now have to write a story about the experience for MXA? Laughing

Jody & company are very cool dudes.

Stoker how they took care of you Friday!

That bike had our new SST Applied Factory Clamps on it as well and Fridatdid a great job today!

I love REM! Graet people there all around!

PS... I would have tried to fix the typo (Fridatdid) but the Mot Conceptes add totally blocks out my text box so I can't see it!!!

Same problem with this last sentance!!!!

Damn Friday, hell of a story. I guess you were on to something at Perris. Cool of Jody to hook you up, to bad when I've ever run into him he's been kind of an ass. For every good story about the guy, there is a bad one. I guess dude has his good days and his bad days, just like the rest of us.

Just as a side note. Jody doesn't know me from Adam. Probably only knows me from the fact that I go to the REM races(which is a ton of fun). The only reason I asked him for a screw driver was he was putting on his gear when I was tryng to get my bike running and he was nearby.Pretty cool I thought. He took me straight to Alan Olson too to try to help me.Good dudes.

Please....! He knows you from your TV shows and your all-around-good-looks, and your Anaheim chicks. Let's get real Mr. Friday. Everyone knows you - in "the biz". Not to mention this board!!!!!

Ask Jody what MXA issue he talked about skidding the GYDBT up to the Jack in the Box drive up window and ordering a Jack Sandwich, Jack Coffee, and a Jack Roll. And then I think it was Fred Phalange asking he could borrow some Jack Money.

I'm gonna say, May 1984 issue. Or so. One of the best Jody's boxes, ever IMHO.

Oh, and were the tools Painted BLACK?

If so, what color did the black cover up? YAH, I always read Jody's box, first thing.

If he reads this thread, I know he's gonna crack a smile at this.
