dude still rides, he showed up a bout 3 or 4 races in to the AX Tour last year and was still smoking fast. Riding on borrowed bikes showing up right before practice with a little truck and a 250 or 450 strapped into the bike of it and leaving with all the clash for cash money. Don't know all the history but he can still ride. Wouldn't doubt if he doesn't show up in Batesville, MS for round one of the AX Tour this weekend. Should be good if he does.

Correct me if I am wrong, him and his sister were close, didn't she pass away a few years ago ? Her husband had posted here off and on. I just remember it affected both of them quite a bit.

He had a little brother, but no sister I remember. If so, I have never saw or heard of her.

he rides and will show up here and there, win some cash and disappear. sad deal actually.

His brother Justin was a shredder on a bmx bike for a ten year old.

I don't mean to be lame and name drop, but I used to ride bmx with Johnny and Justin quite a bit when he was riding for Plano Honda. I haven't seen either of them in five years or so.

you guys are probably right about the sister deal, I just remember a phenom racer from Midwest, thought it was Marley, I'll have to put my thinking cap on.

He shows up at a few of the OSCS races each year.... The guy is still unbelieveably fast. He showed up for the round at Moto-City last summer and that was the most impressive ride I've ever seen from anyone. He missed the starting gate (ala RD5, haha) and came from over a half a lap down (in the 250 pro class) to right behind 1st place. If he had another corner or two he would have won. Seriously unbelieveable skill.....

Jlaw syndrome, heard he made a few bad decisions

He is/was a fast mofo!

I raced here in OK around 2000-2002 and he, Cooper, Bartram and Reynard were the fast guys. Whisperin' Smith was usually right there too.

I'm in Stillwater BTW

I remember seeing him in a US mag years ago on a yz80 pitched as one of the next big things.

Remember him on a Honda years ago in 125 sx as well, seemed his career never really went as expected.

Don't forget Chase Reed. He's being talked about in another thread. Justin Berry also. I haven't heard about him racing lately though. Oh yeah Bogle also and I believe Colt Nichols is coming up.

Dennis is from Texas but now resides in Okla.

How can you guys forget the 2nd ever factory rider in Okla history?!?!? AX champion!!!

Cliff Palmer. Listed as one of the top 20 fastest guys in the world by MXA in 94 or 95? lol

(im biased, went to school with him until 8th grade)

The order:

Trey
Coop
Robbie
Palmer

Then notable mention...

Marley
Jake Martin (JMar on here is his dad)
Cory Green
Trey Owens
Clifford Adanpte (never can spell his name right)
Bartram
Jorski
David Eubanks
Whispen Smith (worlds fastest fireman - I have an awesome whispern story)
Chad Cook
Colby Sharp
Chase Reed
Brett Shumate (only guy other than coop, and pastrana that I have seen run down Robbie at 59th - summer of 94)
Dennis Owens
Holmer Wolfslayer (omg the stories of this guy!)
Chan baker

I could go on and on.

Shumate had some serious skills. I think he could of made it. I seen him do a two wheel drift into a corner feet up once, looked like Stephen Everts.

What about Pooder Hopkins, master of the outside pass.

Twistin Crank Chris Swank, although I think he was only a part time Okie.

And Babblin Bob, greatest amateur announcer ever. "Into the north berm turn, down the power pull straight, who's got the power? It's Trey Jorski, Oklahoma's 125CC state champion" those were the days. Nobody, and I mean nobody was gonna beat Jorski at 59th when the rent was due.

Is Jim Thomas still ramming people on a regular basis?

I used to pit next to Jim, David Benson and Bob Benight. Bob was Marley's uncle I think. The old back woods day track at 59th, that place was actually pretty good.

Justin had a really bad crash that has put him out of commission for awhile, the whole story is here
