because, in early tv, when these 'drama' shows began, the sponsors were detergent companies and the target audience was housewives, who bought the detergent.

Actually promo/commercial work goes along with signing a contract just like any other business. If it was a stand alone ad and he wasn't appearing on the show that would be a whole other deal.

I pulled the $1,000 each time, based loosely on what Kmart paid for a national commercial 9 years ago. Back then, Kmart paid $500 to skateboard with no speaking at all. Metz could be getting a hell of a lot more, or less? I don't know that industry very well.

You must be missing my point. If it is just a print/ T.V. advertising gig he would be getting paid every time it runs. If Metzger is actually under contract and on the show he wouldn't be getting paid for advertising, it would be part of his per episode salary.

Didn't Metz race for NCY back in early 90's with Clowers, Don Upton, Tyson Vohland...maybe Mike Chamberlain....? Metz has been puttin' his neck on the line forever seemingly.

He's been an upper level rider for so long....let Metz make a buck the easy way. Good post Camp.
