My list toppers are:

Doug Henry of course, who came back after breaking his back at Red Budd (or Budd's Creek?)
Steve Lamson who came back strong and won on the Suzuki.
Rick Johnson who bounced back after breaking his hip (I think after the 84 season)
Mike LaRocco broke his wrist in 97 and came back for almost 10 more seasons

Best comeback from adversity and injuries?

Doug Henry is at or near the top. Budds Creek broke his back and he came back and then didn't he break both arms there after that? Then he came back to win a race there! That place owes him.

Stewart 2003 - Broken collarbone at Vegas, misses first 3 rounds of MX and comes back to win EVERY moto to include a last place to 1st place ride at Budds Creek.

I'd say that Windham had a pretty good comeback in 03. He was the only one to beat Ricky outdoors that year after all.

BT101 and his 500 nasty crashes and issues, and still comes back after and is competitve.

How about RV? Destroys his leg and wins everything the following year?

Damon Bradshaw returning to racing after years off the bike and won a national (albeit a mud race).

Lots of riders get injured and come back to do well after they heal.

To me, even more impressive are those riders that look finished because it appears they lack the ability and/or desire, but somehow return with a whole new game. My top 5:

5. John Dowd comes back every year at the toughest track on the circuit and still schools young kids.

4. Mike Alessi came back on a whole new level on Suzuki, basically had the field covered with the exception of JS in '08.

3. Jeremy McGrath came back to race part time in 2006(?) after being out for basically around 4 years, and still was making podiums. Amazing.

2. Chad Reed in the 1st half of this MX season was a standout. I didn't think he would do anywhere near that well.

1. Finally, DAVID BAILEY has returned to annouce the odd race, got back on a modified bike a few years ago and rode, stepped up with his evangelism of neck protection, made it through serious health issues, and performed at the highest level at triathalon events.

David Bailey is the greatest comeback kid of all times!

1. Christophe Pourcel ... He was paralyzed, came back and won his first race back and his first championship back!
2. Stefan Everts ... He got serious injured in both 1999 and 2000 and at the same time his agent was stealing from him... He was broke, his money was gone, the golden MX boy was forgotten and everyone thought his racing career was over but he came back and won 6 World Championships in a row!
3. Christian Craig last year came back from a injury on his back and showed him at the SX West Lites ...

Definitely X2, as well as Bradshaw. I forgot about him winning that Nat in 97.

I would like to add JS7 to the list, but we'll see.Cool

I was thinking of K-Dub too. Broken femur, burnout, etc, and then comes back on the 450 and almost wins his 1st race back against the GOAT.

On Everts, wasn't' that when he signed with Husqvarna? Then got injured, and then got out of his contract to sign with Yamaha without ever racing the Husky in a major race?

Doug Henry will always win this contest. IMO

There is a lot of riders that deserve some credit in this one though.

Pourcel
C. Craig
Etc..
This would be a long list.

Going back a little farther, I think Hannah almost lost his leg from that water skiing accident. He never won another title but he won plenty of races after he came back.

Uhm yeah it was something like that... I saw him race that Husqvarna in the Grand Prix of Belgium at Grobbendonk but after two laps he pulled of because he was like a well know scared of injuries... After that he called it a season and next season Rinadli picked him up and the rest is history!

PS: You need to know that he Injured him self at Baucaire/Valance with that Husqvarna because that thing didn't steer for a inch!!

I forgot about that. Wasn't Marty Tripes driving the boat? Did they hit something?

Sheesh now you have me questioning my post haha I swear it was Broc driving the boat, oh and because Glover was injured at the time so he was at the river with his boat, Hannah was on the ski and I think they swung too wide and Hannah hit the beach, yeah it was Glover.

Yep, cuz Hannah and Glover were the best of buddies..always hung out together Tongue I thought it was Tripes or Chuck Sun and he hit a rock. But definitely great comeback for him to even race again, much less be the fastest guy out there most of the time.
