I've been thinking about getting an aluminum enclosed 5x8 v-nose trailer to haul TWO motocross bikes. Anyone else rolling that way? I've got a small 4 cylinder suv, can't afford a larger vehicle, hence the smaller trailer size. I'm currently been pulling an open three rail trailer but would really like to have an enclosed one. Any input would be great. Thank you.

I'm running a 5x10 enclosed aluminum trailer. Pull it with a 6 cly Jeep Liberty. Pulls it ok but it pulls nothing well. I got a 10 foot because its easier to load 2 bikes in a 5 foot wide when you stagger them. The extra 2 feet only adds about 200 lbs. Mine also has 4 1/2 foot sides, just enough to clear a dirt bike.

Is your trailer steel or aluminum? I never thought about adding a little length.

Aluminum, the guy that built it said it weights around 900 lbs empty.

I had one for a bit in between motovans. I pulled it with a Tacoma Prerunner no issues. Had 2 bike shoes in it staggered by only a few inches so bars and levers didn't clash and could fit a pit bike in between. Only issue is if it's full of bikes there is not much room for much else and to get the bikes out everything must come out. In saying that I would do it again if I had to and to keep from pulling a larger trailer which is not one of my favorite things to do.

I've owned a 5x8 haulmark enclosed trailer for almost 10 years and the last couple I towed with a 4 cylinder Subaru forester and it handled the trailer with 2 bikes without any issues. I think the dry weight of my trailer is around 800lbs.

That is exactly what I needed to hear. I'm sure your Subaru has more output than my Honda CRV but has to be close. Appreciate you chiming in!

Whoa! Now THAT is how you do it! Impressive setup you have there. Everything you need for a weekend of racing and more, all out of a 5x8 (and a damn nice one may I add)

Thx..I did put some thought into it. It has a 12 volt solar system that runs almost everything I use. I carry a 2000W Honda gen in the front box for backup.

I had a 5x10 with a ramp door and it was great. Easy to pull.

Have used a 5x10 fiberglass v-nose for over 15 years.

Can be pulled by almost anything. Pull in direct drive if you have it loaded heavily.

We've stuffed three bikes in it plenty of times.

That right there would be my ideal set up. Vans have such great function. 5x10 seems like an ideal set-up but that trailer looks as big as my CRV (if not larger) haha

Looking for something close to this. Does it have brakes ? We downsized from our toyhauler into a cab over camper. Haven't decided on a size yet. It needs to be big enough for 3 bikes, a minibike, extra propane, firewood, chairs, ez-up, dog shit shovel, tools, parts etc. Would like a single axle with brakes and larger (16") rims if such a thing exists. Will be pulling it with this

Mine did not have brakes and I pulled it with a GMC Van, a Dodge Darango and a Mitsubishi Montero. I would carry a snowmobile in the winter and even in the mountains I never felt I needed trailer brakes. Anything bigger or a duel axle and I would defiantly get one with brakes. My trailer was a Haulmark and it was very well build and solid.

Thanks ! I'll put Haulmark on my list to check out.

I use a small trailer that I built myself. It had to be small enough to fit in my single car garage and still be tall enough to stand inside. I came up with a lifting roof design. When open it's well over 6ft inside. The rear of the trailer acts as an awning when open and when closed it completely covers the rear doors for security. It has 2 fold out benches that make into beds.

Check out my build here: [url=http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=62435[/url]

I have this thing I keep in California for trail riding trips. I can't remember if it's a 10 or 12 foot but it's plenty big enough for 2 bikes and a work bench up front. It's no bigger than the width of the car.

One thing to watch out for is the heat that builds up inside when storing it outside with bikes in, in Southern California at least. One summer my IMS gas tank literally melted so I put in some vents at the top & sides.

Bumping thread to ask question about height. I’m looking at a 5x8 with extra height. It just looks a little tall for its width. Would it be the leaning tower of Pisa around turns?

I doubt that it will have any lean issues unless you have top heavy cargo. It will cost you some mpg though.

Super sharp Van what engine 350 5.7 tbi
? I had a g20 5.7 with a custom interior wood cabinet with holding tank , sink, fridge, microwave. The rear had a big horse shoe seating area that broke down into a bed. A lot of extra weight. It wouldn’t pull a tandem axle 14 or 16 ft with 1 bike in ovr drive 4th gear. Is that common for vans not being able to pull a trailer in ovr drive ?

Just want to say there's a very similar rig on CL here in denver. 5x8 trailer set up.

I don't have 9k but this looks like a nearly fully equipped setup like this.

I’ve been thinking about a 5x8 V nose to pull behind my Frontier. Will they fit three big bikes if one is backwards?

I'm looking at 5x10 or maybe 8 also . I had an older 6x10 with extra height and sold it . Almost wish I hadn't but it was old and stickered up from previous owner . Trailer in Illinois are so price inflated now it's hard to find one a t a decent price

Trailer prices are ridiculous. People selling 20 year old trailers for twice what I paid for my new one 5 years ago.

It will definitely be tight fit but with that V-nose and the the middle bike backwards I think do
