IMO the reaction to Deegan's move is less about the pass itself and more about a failure to "read the room." You can't take what people say at face value. When Sexton, Coop, Stewart, McGrath, whoever roughs someone up at the bitter end (not saying they all did, just naming example riders), it might cause a stir, but because fans still love them, it's viewed as "he did what he had to do". The fans know the baseline of their character and can rationalize it. The riders are likable in their own ways, and someone who is likable gets away...

Some people here keep saying his antics are “good for the sport.” Nah, saying cringe shit like that on the podium will just keep moto a niche “redneck” sport that no one else respects. He was clearly faster at the end of the race, he just didn’t need to be that aggressive on his teammate. I respect his talent on the bike but he makes it impossible to like him. If he wants to be know as the fastest 250 rider then go out there and beat his rivals instead of taking out anybody he sees as a threat.

Didn’t weeks ago Deegan say “I give all my glory to god and can’t do it without him” to now saying “ya BROO SUCK IT!” Gutted for Cole but he’s got a bright future ahead.
