Is that a 1976 Yamaha YZ 80 with Mono Shock? If so does anybody know the story behind that bike. Just curious.

More impressive is when they did it on 125s. I wonder how hard it would be on a new 450?

Above posts... yes does look like 1976 100cc or 1976 125cc cantilever but as Sully says has 80 stamped on tank and also the 80cc Kick starter- would imagine is a mix of a 1976 80cc put with 1976 100cc or 125cc cantilever suspension. Cool bike for the time- talk about trick for that time. Who was the family in the pics and riders of these bikes I wonder? They may have been quite good to have a bike like this and the effort it took to make it back in 1976 thereabouts. Reckon SLAPAHO is correct... is prob a...

Ok guys the story on that bike, it is a 1976 YZ80, it was my buddy Brads and his dad was a master fabricator in those days and somehow made a Mono shock system for it but i can not quite remember the details on how or what he used for a shock and mounting/swingarm but it was pretty amazing...

Another great picture from Vic, looks like the GOAT bought the Farm!!! Woohoo Just found this on the interwebs gives a good perspective of Suicide Mountain in the background before it was ever considered a new section of track. Keep in mind there was a tight right hand corner at the bottom is what made it REALLY challenging for the Pros.
