SimonGreen Started a new thread CR125 2003 power valve stuck
7/6/2019 11:13am Finally got to start rebuilding my top end on the above and have run into a slight issue. This is a brand new cylinder and the valves have been de-coked. All went together fine after a bit of jiggling to get the valves in place but the PV mechanism wont move. Looking closely it looks to me like the cylinder...

7/4/2019 4:30am I bought a small desktop oven that sits in the workshop - great for this sort of stuff and keeps the good lady at bay!
SimonGreen Added a reply to Fork/Shock spring rate advice
7/4/2019 4:26am Thanks mate. I've taken a look at this and the shock spring rate correlates with RT and the fork springs should stay stock. I'll go with this and review the forks after some testing..

SimonGreen Started a new thread Fork/Shock spring rate advice
7/3/2019 6:02am Hi all, I'm using the Racetech site to check the required fork/shock spring rates for my 03 CR125. The site tells me I should use the following based on the parameters I entered? Forks - 0.41kg/mm (stock 0.44kg/mm) Shock - 5.11kg/mm (stock 4.7kg/mm) Couple of things; 1. I understand why the shock is stiffer (I ain't as light as I...

7/1/2019 2:36pm Put the piston on the rod and slide the cylinder on. Using a magic marker up through exhaust port trace so you see where the bridge is on the piston and drill a couple very small holes in between. Also chamfer the holes slightly by hand turning a larger bit to clean and spread the cooling out a little more

7/1/2019 2:36pm If your engine has an exhaust bridge, then yes it should be drilled for safety. Cast pistons don't expand as much as a forged piston, but it can still expand enough to cause issues and thus should be drilled. Paw Paw

SimonGreen Started a new thread 2 Stroke - drilling holes in cast piston
7/1/2019 6:38am Just starting the top end rebuild on a CR125 and I have a Prox cast piston. Is it recommended to drill the exhaust bridge lube holes on a cast piston? No instructions with the piston to do this but if it's not going to cause any issues I'd rather be safe than sorry! Si

6/25/2019 9:56am Can anyone confirm that a 2004 CR125 swingarm will fit a 2003? I've seen some conflicting posts on the web and wanted to be sure before I push the button on one on eBay.. Si

SimonGreen Started a new thread Darn frozen bolts...help
6/24/2019 4:51am I love everything about working on these old bikes with one exception...frozen bloody bolts!! Any thoughts on how to get these rounded frozen bolts out? Can't get heat to them as the plastics will be destroyed. Have tried soaking in Kroil and doesn't seem to make any difference (I genuinely believe all of these release agents are made of snake...

SimonGreen Added a reply to CR125 2003 - I'll just clean it up and grease the bearings build - NOT!!
6/24/2019 4:33am Thanks. That's a sweet deal you got on the 04! I've got an 02 CR250 stripped down to the frame at the mo but it needs so much doing to it I thought I'd tackle something a little less stressful on the wallet
I'll start the 250 build again once this is ship shape.. I do have a decision...

6/24/2019 2:56am Thanks for the help all. I'm pleased to say that freeze spray and needle nosed pliers solved the issue. Pretty impressed with the freeze spray actually. Wasn't convinced but thought I'd give it a go and it worked great. Another tool in the fight against stuck fixings! Si
