Here's how the Sniper Grey batch turned out.
If you remember, this ignition cover was spray painted purple by the previous owner. I stripped off the spray paint, and it turns out the guy used some sort of wire wheel prior to spraying. The thing looked terrible, and there was some pretty deep uneven grooving all over it. I spent some time on a scotch brite wheel in the back of the shop, and I was able to not only smooth everything out, but also clean up the horizontal line below where it says Honda as it was all crooked and jagged. There's little issues here and there on this bike that seem tedious to try to fix or refurbish, but I think will contribute to a nice end result when we're all finished.
Vortex Bronze up next!
With the coated primary, vapor blasted cases and parts that the guys over at Pro X sent us, that should be everything our motor guy needs to get going.
Wiseco Piston made in USA, Pro X Rod made in Japan.
This is what a real G looks like
We've decided to get our motor back from our builder. Been waiting on a definitive answer on what clutch we're going with in this build for him to finish it all up 100%, but can't seem to get a straight answer on that so we paid him for porting the cylinder and decking the head, and I guess Colin and I will figure out the direction we're going on the clutch. Sounds like it could use a new basket from what Brent told us. He bolted it all back up using fresh hardware from our Specbolt kit we received a while back. Here's how it sits as of today:
I also have some beautiful suspension we had done by Ride JBI that I was waiting to post up until we had the triple clamps made to bolt them onto, but those aren't quite done yet and I'm too excited to wait until then, so here are some shots of the forks and shock:
We powdered the rear spring a nice two-step Candy Red to really make things pop with the hard anodized shock body. The forks were Kashima coated, with the lugs hard anodized to match the shock. I have a full write up from JB with details on all the work he did that I'll post when we get the suspension all mounted up.

It's official, we have locked down a clutch! Rekluse came on board and sent us everything we need to get this thing ripping. I'll have more details on all of it tomorrow, here's a shot of the clutch cover they sent us bolted up.
Fresh internals for the swingarm:
Swingarm and linkage on:
Shock mounted. Man, it's such a satisfying feeling working the swingarm up and down with all fresh internals. Buttery smooth:
The stock wheels were very tired, and the rear hub had a crack on one of the rotor tabs which is a common problem on the OEM Honda hubs. What better excuse to build up a set of FasterUSA wheels, seeing as the weak point on the OEM hubs has been addressed in our hub design by doubling the rotor tab thickness and using a threaded bolt:
We decided to go with a classic but always clean colorway; Red FasterUSA hub, silver Bulldog spokes and nipples with a black Excel Takasago rim. Pro X sprocket so we can go, Galfer rotor so we can stop:
Sprocket bolts fully torqued, bro's:
One of the few parts that came with the bike that was actually in decent condition and not worth replacing were a set of Pro Circuit footpegs. I Cerakoted the brackets in a Sniper Grey, and powder coated the pegs in a Mirror Black:
Tightened down our vapor honed subframe with some fresh nickel plated Specbolt bolts, and installed the airbox which was also vapor honed:
Wheel mocked up, and motor bolted in the frame:
Rear brake system rebuilt and Galfer pads and steel braided brake line installed:
