Fork/Shock spring rate advice

Hi all,

I'm using the Racetech site to check the required fork/shock spring rates for my 03 CR125. The site tells me I should use the following based on the parameters I entered?

Forks - 0.41kg/mm (stock 0.44kg/mm)
Shock - 5.11kg/mm (stock 4.7kg/mm)

Couple of things;

1. I understand why the shock is stiffer (I ain't as light as I once was!) but why would the fork springs go lighter?
2. Are their calculations based on you building the suspension with their upgrades? i.e. if I'm not intending to do that are they still in the ball park?

Don't want to throw money away building a pile of unused springs if possible.

I intend to use Eibach springs - are these ok?

Sounds like an error. Id call a suspension shop and ask what rate you need. Or call racetech to confirm. Usually their rates are pretty good. When i ordered mine, both got stiffer.

I'm 6' and 190 lbs - weight is on the way down given the current diet and training regime I'm on Smile forgotten how physical riding a crosser is!

I would at least have put you on .44s with the oc forks from back in the day, they were in need of much more. Those are good forks, and can tune well. Call rt and fc and ask what rates would be best.

I would at least have put you on .44s with the oc forks from back in the day, they were in need of much more. Those are good forks, and can tune well. Call rt and fc and ask what rates would be best.

I've found this calculator to be pretty good. It doesn't give you all the options that the race tech calculator does but should get you in the ballpark. Just enter your bike details in and it will take you to the calculator where you can enter your weight. Note that weight is in kilograms

Thanks mate. I've taken a look at this and the shock spring rate correlates with RT and the fork springs should stay stock. I'll go with this and review the forks after some testing..
