RobKacp Added a reply to Have neck braces reduced spinal injuries?

Theoretically, perhaps. Neck braces in a hyperextension injury (neck whips back) are designed to transfer the force to the thoracic strut(s) to allow the force to be distributed through to the thorax and t-spine. However, in the injury models used in Leatt's white paper, the forces transmitted through the t-spine were not significantly different between "with brace" and "without brace"...

The difficulty here is the data is going to be hypothetical based on models of injury until someone does a longitudinal observational study. Having done a bit of research in the past, its going to take a lot of money and manpower to basically follow two groups of people - those who wear neck braces, and those who don't, for...

I'm officially an Alessi fan. I can't think of two guys that share more emotion and connect better with the "regular fan/rider" than these two gentlemen. I hope great things come your way, Jeff!

I rode out of the pits a few weeks ago without my Leatt (plain forgot). On the track I felt completely liberated; it had been so long since I had ridden without it that I had forgotten what it felt like to ride without one and I have to say it felt good. Nontheless, I rode back to the pit...

I have to agree with most of the sentiment here. I was never a huge MA fan in the past, but recently I have been rooting for him. His podium interviews seem so much more humble and "real." Its not the usual glossing over of the questions and recitation of the sponsors - you can see the emotion in him...

Bingo! My kid doesn't give a rat's that he's riding a 2005 KTM 50 Jr that I picked up on Craigslist. He's just stoked to try and make it go fast. Its my own preconceptions that I struggle to keep in check. (Wow, if he only had that 2013 KTM, he'd be the fastest kid on the track...which I know...

From my point of view, they all look like decent candidates. Quick thoughts: The KX sounds like it has probably had the best maintenance program of the 3. If the owner kept logs of his maintenance, even better. The KX was not the best of the 125s in 2005, but a well maintained bike is worth a half-dozen magazine shootout...

I have always been a NewEgg fan and spent plenty of money with them - I couldn't be happier to see them sponsoring our sport. Now they'll get my business even when they aren't the absolute cheapest (which this rare anyway).

Cycle Ranch (cycleranchmx.com) is far and away the best track to ride on in the area. Bill Swisher's MotoShack has a trackside shop as well as a main location on Hwy 181 on the way to Cycle Ranch. Bill's a great guy and carries most things you might need. He also does service, although the only thing I have had...
