Hey Mike, do you have very bad phantom pains? I didnt have em bad for many years, but about the last 6 or 7 years they have gotten worse and worse. Feels like my feet are sitting in a pool of hot lava and the skin is just melting off my bones, not fun man!

MC called it, the bike stalled after he cleared the bar. That was just brutal, I cringed watching it. I am shocked at how calm he was, I'd be significantly less pleasant if I just blew up my femur and ankle!

Hey guys Myles Richmond here. I am a long time browser of the forum. I figured I could start posting and get in some arguments on here since I got a bit of time on my side so now is a good time to start! Ha! Also, I was always hoping to get talked about on Vital but I guess I wasn't exactly picturing this! haha

Just a little side note to the crash, I had a stock clutch in my bike. I think it got too hot and I didn't adjust it right and the stock clutches are crap anyways on the new Honda's and when I got to the top of my flight, went to brake check and when I did I pulled the clutch in, but it didn't disengage it enough and stalled the motor. Then I was just along for the ride!

And as far as injuries go my femur is on it's way for healing! Shouldn't be more than 3 months, but the ankle is a little bit more serious. I shattered my Talus and so basically just trying to find a specialist to do the work on my ankle which should be this week.

Thanks for the nice compliments and look forward to cruising around and chit chatting with you all!

Myles, you are a talented tuff SOB.

The femur won't be too bad. My daughter broke hers at Millville over Memorial weekend.. She's up and around walking over a week ago. Her trouble is she broke L2 as well. That's taking some time.. Hardware everywhere..

Your ankle story sucks, but will get healed up. Make the PT people your best friend, you'll be seeing a lot of them in the near future. They'll get you back on your scoot.

Good luck!

Best of luck to a speedy, healthy, full recovery. It could have been much worse.

Huge balls buddy. Bad luck on the stall.

How high have you gone? Could you have been there at the end?

Thanks Scottie for the invite and the tip for the tear offs! Smile

sc961 - I'm sorry to hear about your daughters injuries. I would have to say that's pretty much the only downfall of dirtbikes. And thanks for the tips on the femur. Keeps me looking forward!

Hut - haha I appreciate that. It's funny, I thought I was more of a drama queen when I was laying there. I just didn't want to yell or scream since I figured it would make it worse, but since then, I've done plenty of it! Smile

Funny story actually I was thinking as I was getting carted off. I watched the X-Games the day before and they showed Bob Burnquist had a pretty nasty crash on the mega ramp. It looked like it hurt pretty good and he started screaming bloody murder when he hit the ramp. I thought it was kinda funny I felt like I would probably scare the kids if I started doing that! haha

I don't know how you stay that calm. When I broke mine, I was telling them my leg was broken, but it was more like "AHHHHH MY LEG MY LEG MY LEG MY LEG FUCK MY LEG"

It didn't help that for some reason the god damn flaggers thought it would be a good idea to pick me up and carry me off the track.

I do remember the single most painful experience from that injury, was actually trying to get in bed a few nights after surgery. I got my leg fulcrumed on the bed frame swinging in and it felt like it moved like 20 degrees. Now it actually didn't, due to the rod and all, but it sure as hell felt like it

Thanks SocalMXer and teggers. And teggers, unfortunately when I crashed, that was the highest "Height" I've gone in stepup, but I've been higher it felt like in the past with a different setup. Not too sure how they measure stepup as it is pretty inconsistent. Also if I wouldn't of crashed I am sad to say I don't think I would of been there with Renner and Buyten. Those dudes are insane at stepup. I could of probably gone up past 40' since when I did 38' it felt like I got over it pretty easy but after 40' it would of got very difficult.

crashnburn11 - haha ya it sucks to break anything but to be moved by people who don't know how to move injured people would take the cake! Sounds brutal! I have to say I'm glad I was how I was since I totally forgot about the GoPro on my head. These conversations could be way different if I was screaming like crazy!

Tough luck for you there Myles..

Really cool of you to come on here and give us your perspective. I remember watching you do a backflip onto a mulch pile on an FMX website before people were doing them in competitions. Hope you heal up and get back to doing what you love!!

"Um, my leg's numb. Broken femur I think." In a matter-of-fact, conversational tone like you were reading accounting numbers. Myles you are one tough dude!
