I'm South African so with the time difference it is a ball ache watching live. I go to bed early then wake up for the opening ceremonies. Have a subscription so I can watch the next morning....but the excitement does not allow me that privilege. I gotta watch as it happens.

AC has given Kawi more publicity and eyeballs than Savatagy ever could. They’d much rather have the most personable rider in the sport that can lead laps and qualify well than a 5th place guy who looks miserable all the time

1/3/2024 4:54pm What could go wrong? I bet Anton's not old enough to remember MXA's Cannondale test. Just kiddin', I guess the Varg is way better than the 400MX ever was. Still, I'd be willing to bet this weight assertion is a big fat lie.
Winners win. That’s a simple mindset Joey doesn’t have. He doesn’t do what it takes to win, and he’s not willing to. If he was, he wouldn’t show up to the last round of WSX with the points lead expecting to lose, which he said himself he was. He brings a losing mindset into whatever class he races, on whatever bike he’s racing. I don’t get why racing 250 SX on a Triumph would change that.

1/3/2024 3:45pm BTW, has anyone actually put the Varg on a scale to check this? "It is lighter than the current bikes, at least lighter than all the Japanese 450s and our bike is 110 kilos, and it is also lighter than the new KTM. Potentially it is the lightest of the 450s."

From Triumph's side, they are launching a new bike. Even though they've had guys like RC, Tedesco and Desalle developing it, they are probably still a bit concerned about exactly where they land in the pecking order. Putting a guy in the premiere class on an under-powered bike is a pretty big roll of the dice, and they've been pretty conservative to this point with the launch. There is potential upside with hardcore fans who know the differences, and who buy the bike but seeing your best rider get 19th in the main is probably not how Triumph wants to...

His goal for outdoors is also to win the title. Title threat? I don't see it. He's six years removed from the 250 class, he turns 30 next month, and he's on a brand new motorcycle that is yet to be proven.
