Seems like it would be more economical for everyone to show up and buy a brand new bike as opposed to building a bike to skirt the rules. They could take it home a sell and recoup most of their money, or mod the shit out of it and race it locally.

SM is still one of the best classes to race at a local level, with huge fields and reasonable cost. You're not going to win the runoffs with a crate motor, but you can battle near the front at regional races. Racing always turns into a money spending contest sooner or later and people will cheat. So, that means that in order for a kid to compete, the parents know that they have to cheat, and every parent knows that every other parent is also cheating. That needs to be fixed. Either enforce the current rules, or change them, so that the class is still fair. Not to keep beating this but 3 extra ccs at 50-60-70cc makes a pretty substantial difference especially when set up properly. "Fully modded" i play around with motors this size a lot and guys share dyno numbers. Think of a guy in the 250 class running a 265 kit. Same percent, idk man seems like a big deal to me.
