So after 9 pages we’ve got: Deegan never intended to race the AusX Open. Ando never intended to race the AusX Open. The AusX Open promoters never asked Deegan or Ando to attend. The Lawrence camp may, or may not, have said they didn’t want Deegan or Ando at the AusX Open. Much ado about nothing. Is it A1 time yet?

If the promoter offered him money to race and then withdrew it at the request of the Lawrence camp, that is the issue. "Free to sign up" is fairly empty and probably applies to alot of eligible privateers. It feels like Steve was talking around the real issue - understandably for media trying to walk a tightrope between being a "pander-bear" and pissing people off for sensationalism (like Cooksey).
