I heard Deegan isn’t allowed to ever race the 450 class until Jett and Hunter retire. They’ve even told Anderson he needs to drop down to the 250 class for the remainder of his career!
If the promoter offered him money to race and then withdrew it at the request of the Lawrence camp, that is the issue. "Free to sign up" is fairly empty and probably applies to alot of eligible privateers. It feels like Steve was talking around the real issue - understandably for media trying to walk a tightrope between being a "pander-bear" and pissing people off for sensationalism (like Cooksey).

All I know is very early in Jett’s career, I decided that I just can’t stand him or his brother. Since then, they’ve only fanned the flames of my hatred. I know there’s plenty out there like me that smile when they see Jett hit the dirt and lose, or watch Hunter struggle to pass Aranda, like they did in Paris.
This story is hardly a surprise. They love to try to control the narrative, and it’s not even a debate who the biggest star of the event would be if 38 showed up.
The Irony.
So after 9 pages we’ve got:
Deegan never intended to race the AusX Open.
Ando never intended to race the AusX Open.
The AusX Open promoters never asked Deegan or Ando to attend.
The Lawrence camp may, or may not, have said they didn’t want Deegan or Ando at the AusX Open.
Much ado about nothing. Is it A1 time yet?
Don't forget, Deegan and Anderson are both banned but also free to race.
The Deegans appear not to have the pulling power the Lawrences have.
I can guarantee you that if the 38 showed up to the Australian SX in Melbourne he would not be the biggest star.
Vital needs something to hate/argue about until there is something new to hate/argue about each week of the racing season.
