It's the moto way - just keep jacking up the prices until business slows down. I remember when you could get a pipe, silencer and porting done for less than that.

Because I always look at both sides, I'm somewhat with him on the heat being an issue. Being a member of a thriving off road organization in Florida I know a lot of guys didn't want to go to WW Ranch because of the heat. I camped there and my one air conditioner on my 30 foot camper could not keep it comfortable, and I burned out a Predator 3500 generator. I had to go buy another generator or my dog would have died. The heat in Florida in the summer is no joke.

Soooo… if the “too hot” argument were being made for the benefit of the athletes, you’re right. Many of them live and train there. But I think the concern is about ticket sales. Sure, you listed some other sports and amusement parks that are successful despite the conditions, but none of those facilities are as ill-prepared to protect the audiences...

Unless it's baseball. Harry Carey, Bob Uecker, Phil Rizzuto and Vin Scully were often times more entertaining than the game! ⚾️

Many podcasters work for him, he runs the outdoor series, a good chunk of the amateur series, his employees are prominent in the TV airings, he owns a popular magazine about the sport and prints the program for the nationals, runs GNCC, etc.. If he doesn't control the narrative, he has alot to do with it.

Focusing on “stories” instead of the competition unfolding right in front of our eyes is due to an unfounded fear that the audience will get bored and tune out. It’s old school broadcasting think. Some might even call it journalism. But what we want, on race day, is competent COVERAGE. Save the stories for the podcasts after the race.

China's dollar being worth less US dollars also helps them. When the Euro was really strong around 2007, I was selling and shipping a lot of graphics over to England and Ireland. I met some people through the 07 MXON and they loved that they effectively got stuff for half price because of the exchange rates. At the time prices were similar in euros to the price in dollars. So a set of $200 graphics became 100 euros. At the moment I am writing this 1 us dollar converts to 7.26 Chinese yuan . My quick research shows that the...

Not at the expense of destroying "share holder value". I think you might also be surprised to find that the line labor workers in those plants may not all be local Italians or French These aren't excuses, they are economic realities of the current American economy. Manufacturing has been steadily destroyed in the U.S. since the 1960's.

In Italy, every worker not only gets a "living wage", but a full month of annual paid leave, and mandatory severance arbitration/pay. They are building TMs, Fantics, Betas, and soon Ducatis. Surely, we in the U.S. are capable of building something without all the excuses.

And the Austrian's are now utilizing production facilities in India and China to lower costs. The Japanese have also off-shored production. Everyone in developed countries are stuck trying to compete with the 3rd world countries that can (and WILL) do it for less.

Japan and Austria both have extensive worker protections and welfare systems. And Italy (TM/Beta/Fantic) and France (Sherco) are vastly more regulated and socialized than the U.S.

I think I understand where you’re coming from, but I think it’s possible to have safety regulations and social safety nets without completely squashing businesses. But you’re right, countries that don’t police their businesses in the same way, and don’t provide for their citizens like we do, have an advantage… of sorts.
Not sure really it’s anybody’s bidness
