Nate_Ferderer Added a reply to Suzuki has let go of the R&D department
5/3/2020 6:29am Recent bikes I’ve owned: 16 yz250f, 17 yz250fx, 18 350 xcf, 19 rm-z 250, 19 crf250rx. I’ve enjoyed them all and had success on each racing nationally. None are perfect and all require some small adjustments to fit my needs. I love the Suzuki and I look forward to buying a second one - even if it’s “old outdated overweight”...

5/3/2020 6:10am My little AX team was on KTMs for the last seven years. Suddenly, no KTM dealers would give me the time of day when it came to a deal for 3-4 bikes. It's not like I was asking for free bikes, I pay for them. We went with Suzuki because of price. Yes, the kickstarter seems like the Flintstones, but damn I've been kicking bikes for 60 years. We beat a lot of other brands this year and my riders were entry level Pros. They were happy to be on any bike I sponsored them on and if we ever...

4/30/2020 9:58am We need a little clarification here.... did Suzuki Motor Corporation drop its R&D department in Japan? I have my doubts about that. What I think actually happened is that Suzuki Motor of America dropped their R&D department. You guys do know that SMAI does not design and update the motocross models, right? The most they ever did was help Japan with tweaks for the American market. These are the guys who put an RM125 engine in an RM-Z250 frame and tried to get Japan to notice. Suzuki may be in trouble in the MX market, but I don't think this...

3/28/2020 8:39pm I’m with ya man. I don’t know how ANY of the games that have been released In the past 10 years have had humans create the riders and the physics and think “yup, I’m happy with that” Boggles the mind, if I was that bad at my profession, I wouldn’t have a job in it.

3/13/2020 5:37am Get rid of Lit Pro and all this crazy stuff. Please. This sport was supposed to be man, motorcycle and terrain.. bad ass. It’s changing too much. I know someone will bust my chops that loves the technology, I just think it drives costs up and makes it more elitist. Figuring out the fast way around the track should be up to the rider, not a computer. Amateurs need to focus on things like steel sprockets and o-ring chains that last all season instead of programmers, let’s get kids out racing and make it fun, affordable again. This is all...

2/19/2020 12:00pm It's a pokey-out bit of a dirt bike. Like every other pokey-out bit of the bike, it will get wiped out or bent in certain situations.

Nate_Ferderer Added a reply to Japanese manufacturers, can we have an honest conversation about your chain guide mounting please?
2/19/2020 11:59am You're implying the guide brackets are designed to break away from the swingarm rather than build them stronger and have some 'worse' failure mode to the swing arm? Both failure modes result in a junk swing arm. If it were the chain guide breaking away, I'd buy into this logic. As stated above, it isn't only a Japanese welding issue...
Nate_Ferderer Added a reply to Japanese manufacturers, can we have an honest conversation about your chain guide mounting please?
2/19/2020 6:18am They should start by adjusting their robot welder program so it welds the full length of the bracket. I’ve had a few different fabricators grind and weld Honda and Yamaha brackets for me over the past decade. They always struggle with the alloy. It’s not pretty, but no failures since doing this.

2/19/2020 5:49am Whatever planet you're living on I would love to experience it.
1. I run aftermarket chain guides because they are a lot more forgiving then stock, and will tend to slide over a rock or rut rather than dig into it like the aluminum stock guides. 2. Modifying the front case saver like I do is standard practice. Leaving the bolts longer adds a little bit of additional protection in the case of a chain issue like I just had, but you do run the risk of damaging the case in other ways due to the additional leverage if the...
