jnickell Added a reply to Elitist mentality among streetbikers
4/5/2018 2:24pm Yeah but your AMA pro guy probably rode a 250 and it only had one cylinder. Total chick bike.

jnickell Added a reply to Which national
4/5/2018 1:15pm I've been to a few nat's. Here's what I know about them. ** Glen Helen: is pretty close to Ontario airport. Viewing isn't that great but it's still a great one to attend. ** Hangtown: The airport (45 minutes to an hour). Viewing is pretty awesome if you trek over to the hillside. ** Budds Creek: The airport is about...
jnickell Added a reply to Elitist mentality among streetbikers
4/5/2018 12:55pm I had a street bike for a few years but too many close calls with cars pulling out in front of me turned me off. During that time, I rode with several folks. None of them had dirt experience and boy did it show. Motocrossers are accustomed to traction loss from both ends of the bike. Your standard street guy...
jnickell Added a reply to For those of you that race, what are you thinking on the line?
4/2/2018 5:18pm I used to nervously watch the race that was still underway while triple checking every thing from velcro on my gloves to the clutch lever free play. Anxiousness was the number one emotion. When the official walked in front of each racer confirming readiness, I checked my gas one last time. Even after shifting into second and bringing the revs...
jnickell Added a reply to THAT's a "Quad"
3/31/2018 5:37pm I have to add to this. I suppose I qualify for your definition of an armchair bench racer. In that context, If I were trying to tell the "guys doing the jump" HOW to do it faster, I would totally agree with you. However, this is simple physics/math about labeling a section of track. It's not about how to do...

3/29/2018 10:48pm It's sooo bad ass because he jumped a true quad.
That's what I mean, the fact that they call things quads that truly aren't weakens the meaning of "quad". Stew's jump is what a quad is all about.

3/29/2018 10:16pm Indeed, those dudes are definitely athletes. And you're right, it isn't fake. However, the punching they assist with the stomping is theatrically exaggerated.

3/29/2018 10:12pm ML512, I understand your logic but just because they call it quad doesn't make it right. The argument isn't stupid. The fact that a quad somehow has less than 4 obstacles is stupid.

3/29/2018 10:04pm Of course, you are correct. But like my signature says, context, context, context. We're talking about the labeling of a jump combo. In my WWE analogy, the wrestler is truly hitting the opponent, but how hard? Not nearly as hard as he's trying to make you think with the slamming of his foot. The slamming of the foot is equal...
jnickell Added a reply to THAT's a "Quad"
3/29/2018 9:50pm Maybe my fabric statement is a little strong but I still stand by the basic concept of it. BS is BS. There is lots of talk about our sport being taken seriously. Calling some of these obstacles quads reminds me of the foot stomp the WWE guys do as they act like their punching their opponent REALLY hard.

3/29/2018 9:20pm I was wrong for throwing darts at you zehn. Sorry. Your response "who fucking cares at this point" struck a cord with me. My thought is that if you don't have anything constructive to say other than simply disagreeing with the existence of the post, why comment? I should have ignored yours for the same reason. You can disagree with...
jnickell Added a reply to THAT's a "Quad"
3/29/2018 9:11pm I figured it might end up like this kzizok. I debated on whether to post it but I figured what the hey. At least it's something to debate considering the video evidence. I stand corrected and sorry for even throwing it out here. Carry on fellas.
jnickell Added a reply to THAT's a "Quad"
3/29/2018 8:55pm Potential landings don't count. It's potential take offs. If you land on the top of a table, after a single jump, you doubled onto it. If you clear the table after the single, you have doubled. If you don't clear a table, does that mean you doubled? No, you didn't clear the single obstacle called a TABLE TOP. The landing...

3/29/2018 8:46pm Yep. Do you want this sport to be in the same classification as WWE? BS = lack of respect. If you truly dig motocross and are a student of the sport, this hype crap probably irritates you. If you're doing it because it's cool, your name might be zehn and you might say you quadded something that only has three...
jnickell Started a new thread THAT's a "Quad"
3/29/2018 8:30pm The video of of Eli crashing last week was shown in Racer X's Sign of the Lap Times article written by Dan Carlson. He stated that Eli cased a "Quad". However, there were only three obstacles. The logic that seems to be used is if there is a table top involved, it's a double. Pretty lame if you ask me...

jnickell Started a new thread Roczen's "Right Arm"
3/28/2018 4:01am While watching KR in the broadcast booth (by the way, I think he did great) I noticed his right arm looked like it was made of plastic. He must have gotten it out of the cast very recently because I never saw any of his fingers even twitch. The atrophy was quite noticeable too. Hangtown is only about 8 weeks...

jnickell Added a reply to Ryan Dungey Penalized, Jason Anderson Wins
3/26/2018 12:52pm I agree with your comment about the reason. What you're saying is that he should have been penalized even if he was already mid air and floating over the triple when they threw the flag. In that case, he was jumping a triple while the red cross flag was flying. To me, that's no different than full commitment to jumping...
jnickell Added a reply to Ryan Dungey Penalized, Jason Anderson Wins
3/26/2018 12:32pm I vividly remember Dungey's infraction being a little different than Martin's. Martin absolutely saw the flag since he chose to roll the first 1/3 of the jump but not the last 2/3. Conversely, Dungey was committed to the jump THEN saw the flag. After landing he looked over his shoulder to confirm what he thought he saw while accelerating up...

jnickell Started a new thread Forkner's St Louis Troubles
3/23/2018 12:03pm Forkner's issues in St. Louis were caused by several variables. One of them being youth and another was the fact that red decals are 100 times heavier than black or white. He looked really good until he hit the deck. Was it because of the red decal or youth? Or was it simply a crash that would have happened regardless...
