Hah . . . points, primary chain, great brakes -- state of the art. The thing looks like a good base for a project, but $1k would be rich for it.
Not nearly as old school as the Kawasakis above and out of focus, but from Hangtown (I don't remember the year): http://url.photobucket.com/albums/v482/ ... -Htown.jpg[/quote:2551f] Was that the year there were gale-force winds? The only race I got my wife to. The conditions sucked; it was terrible. The wind was so strong it was picing gravel up from the parking lot...
very cool, it was hard to beat those Hallman goatskin leathers though.[/quote:d5ad9] True ... true, but they ran their course Went through two sets of the DeCoster black ones with the stripes.
Fucking piece of shit swipes a sticker that actually means something to the driver of the van, and then wants to challenge other people to do stuff? For real?[/quote:51f9b] [quote:51f9b]Not that it's really any of your business[/quote:51f9b] Where have I read this before . . . it sounds familiar . . .
GPs at Hollister, I don't think any nats. Sears did run Nats for a couple of summers in addition to Trans AMA. I remember one where the forgot to get a doc and the whole prgram was shit down for a few hours to get one out to the track. That was a miserable day.

The upper track definately was remote. It didn't help that NorCal suffered a drought in those years. Adobe makes great bricks.
Carnegie's top track. The one Decoster broke his frame on. That track was so fast. The old lower track was cool, because the Trans- AM guys rode on that. Magoo on his CZ 250 with blocks on the pegs.[/quote:f5691] I have to respectfully disagree. It was really cool the first year, virigin grass, but it was a beat, baked clay...

I've never been to Cahuilla, but the hills at Carnegie come off the valley floor forever. There are some sick hills there, and the old track ran them, and they dropped off steeper the last 100 feet or so. Made for great up hill jumps and drop offs on the way back down. Pretty amazing seeing the short travel bikes...
