I agree that he's asking too much. I don't see any bungee cords but from the way the seat is torn up it tells me something about the general condition.
Any old Maico will have a stripped kickstarter shaft and/or a knuckle ready to implode at just the wrong moment.
Forget trying to tune that Bing without a large supply of jets. Just buy a Mikuni for and move on.
Hope to hell the Motoplat is still good.
Those tires are probably hard as iron and grip just about as well.
Intake and airbox boot are similarly dried out. Air filter will be toast too.
Already mentioned the seat cover.
How much invested so far???
If all that stuff was tip top, I'd say $2200 is about right.

A 77 would have had points, I think.
The Magnums were the first bikes with Motoplats, weren't they?

You may have me there. Motosplats had been around for years (my 74 Ossa had one), and my 78 Magnum has one (replaced one, doh). Bad assumption on my part that a 77 would be beyond the primitive mechanical points setup?

Yeah, external points with the soldered-on condenser. Remember those?
I had the solder break one time in practice and couldn't find a soldering iron to fix it before the first moto. Ended up taking the condenser out of my van, and splicing it in on the bike.

Let's see one of these young punks figure THAT one out!
[quote="maicobreako":2bd82]Ever watch a CZ guy try to set his timing? If you've got fat fingers, forget about it. Artificially inseminating a dust mite would be easier.
A Husky mechanic once told how to set a points ignition. Said "set it in the trash can and install a PVL". F-ing smartass![/quote:2bd82]
Yeah, at least the Maico points were on the outside, with an internal rotor. Easiest bike I ever had to set the points.
I do like Maicos though . . . lol.
oops

You guys are wrong. You're close, but wrong.

The thing looks like a good base for a project, but $1k would be rich for it.
