i restored a pretty rough example, I had been looking for 1 for a while. o/all a fun bike to ride, good low end/ mid range motor, good suspension for natural terrain mx or woods. alot of parts still avail. from suzuki still, some parts getting scarce, tranny gears, clutch basket ect. I was able to order all oem plastic from Suz, came straight from japan. I could not get the bike to run correctly with stock carb, rebuilt it, cleaned it to no avail, put an old keihin off a 96 cr 250, runs great, went a little richer...

Thanks Mdesmond: yes, post up your bike! The 96 Cr carb bolts right on, Suzuki cable & all. Fits into the intake & airbox boots good, make sure the boots are warm, use a blow dryer or heat gun to get the boots plyable, my airbox boot can be a little tough to get on the carb but not sure if it's because it's tighter or my boot has shrunk some, but once on they are fine. I would get the airbox boot on before you tighten down the back of the airbox to the frame. If you haven't already...

This will conclude my refresh, I will fire it up when it gets warmer out. I donot plan on riding this bike in the future, so original front sprocket cover, airbox lid installed. New decals for number plates & swing arm. I put enough time on the bike to get it dialed in pretty good and it was fun to relive owning my first brand new bike which was an 87 RM 250. the 88"s were improved over the 87"s and I feel the 88"s look much better with the improved gas tank/shroud setup. I also feel this PC pipe...

Engine back together. Carb had some Leaking from the bowl, I replace all the orings & bowl gasket. Cleaned up the pipe & sprayed some high temp clear on it. Replaced silencer decal and bent silencer mount for better tire clearance, seems good now.

I have the 78 rear although it appears to be the oe part after I stripped the paint off of it. It's not nearly as ugly as the 79 fender but something about it I can't get over.

So, I am not really in love with the fenders design of the 78 or 79 rm's. I have the front figured out but what are people using in place of the stock 78 rear? 1977-1980?

Thanks for the reply, the cases have been re-aquanted with a thin layer of yamabond equivalent. All is well in that dept. Also came up with a fix for my handlebar grommets for now.

Hey all, hope I am posting in the correct forum, please move if not. I am in the midst of a restore on a '78 Rm125c and have a few questions. First off the rubber handlebar mounts are shabby. Replacing them isn't a hard thing to find but for the cost I would like to eliminate the rubbers altogether if...
