2019/2020 KX450 I was a 250f rider for years....then settled on a 19 KX450. I swear it rides lighter than my older Yam YZ250f. Out of the box it really good, but it is perhaps not the best 450 in stock setup. But who rides a bike out of the box and never dials it in? For me the 250f is the perfect all round bike, I ride mx and off-road and I’m 193lb without my gear on. Never feels underpowered to me, the older carbed ones seem a bit steady nowadays but modern 250f’s have plenty of power and don’t feel (to me) like a big cumbersome farm vehicle like my 450 did.

All that gets negated with extra maintenance involved

250 is enough for the best in the world, let alone us mortals.

250. Hopping on the 450 right away will give you bad habits in my opinion. Ride a 250 for a couple of years then move up.

It all depends on the type of rider you are. If you like to move around a lot and 'style' your way around a track, then a 250F is the better choice, whereas if you tend to be 'still' when you ride and just point-and-shoot a bike from corner to corner, then the 450 would likely suit you better. I'm old and I weigh more than I'd like, but nevertheless I tend to ride any and all bikes like they're 125s. Thus, every time I've ridden a 450, I couldn't wait to get back off and hand it back to...

With the power 250’s make these days they’re a better bike for mx than the 450. Lighter, less tiring and more than enough power.

I traded my 17 CRF450 for this 18 KX250F and it was the best move ever. Im faster, can ride harder, longer, and more confident on the smaller bike. Im wayyyyy tooo big for a 250F but with the white coupler, VPU4.4 and a pipe its plenty fast enough for me. E Start would be nice but I am a weekend vet rider and have been kicking for decades, few more wont hurt me. See if you can find a KX or YZ250F to spin a few laps on.

That is true! I am a Kawi kinda guy and keep trying to talk myself into getting a FC350 just to try it out, but I have a feeling I will just be back on the KX450 so lay as well just get a 450! With everything going on if I can get a new bike and maybe a new truck for cheap or 0% APR maybe there will be a silver lining to this nonsense after all! 😏
