All that gets negated with extra maintenance involved
This is probably correct. I don't know how much they have changed, but for a while the Kawi 250 had a knack for blowing top ends. If the probability of failures was the same, the 250 would maybe be the choice. With less worries about failures and then the hydro clutch, E start, suspension etc. on the 450, that might be the way to go.

How long were you planning on keeping the bike?

Anyone that knows where I can get a deal on a 2020 FC350 let me know... I have cash and am ready to buy as soon as this nonsense is over!

OP, how long ago were you riding Novice and who did you race with?
I was in novice from 2006-2008. I don’t remember who I raced with but I was doing the vet series around cahuilla, perris, and Glen Helen. Also the Perris summer nights series.

Oh yeah I’m stuck at home for the foreseeable future so... I was kinda hoping the same thing would happen, and on trucks too!

2019/2020 KX450 I was a 250f rider for years....then settled on a 19 KX450. I swear it rides lighter than my older Yam YZ250f. Out of the box it really good, but it is perhaps not the best 450 in stock setup. But who rides a bike out of the box and never dials it in? Once you dial it in, I think it is THE best 450...at least the best I have ridden. I was able to actually find an extra set of forks and shock on ebay, and I have two completely different set ups for mine. I have an off-road/trail set up (Precision Concepts) and a MX set up (FC). I can swap from one to the other in the shop in about 30 minutes. I also put a fan on it (LOL) for trail riding. I just really liked the idea of having the SAME bike for track and trail...just different suspension settings.

So, just to update this. I’ve decided on a 450 🤷🏻‍♂️ Gonna try out the black coupler at first and see which one I like better compared to the green coupler. Ultimately it came down to my riding style (dont like to shift a lot lol) and the type of tracks I’ll be riding (more open / motocross style tracks). So I know ill have more fun on the 450. Not planning on getting into racing again, just go enjoy riding motocross on the weekends. So KX450 it is then! Still want to try a 350SXF and see what the hype is about though. Maybe that will be the next bike in a couple years! Now just have to wait for this madness going on around the world to end and pick up my new baby! Gonna be fun picking up a new bike again and tearing it all down to prep it with grease, torqued properly, sag, etc. Can’t wait!

Great choice. I've owned tons of bikes, and the 19-20' Kawi's are incredible.

Enjoy the ride!
